Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return for the Bronx burger, with the Mira, Pablo, Meco and chapo also named, and they praise the soft, pillowy house-made bun and the aged beef. Close behind are the sides: the loaded Bronx fries, fried pickles and buttermilk chicken wings come up repeatedly, along with a huge cheese dip. Service is described as friendly and quick. The main complaint is inconsistency in the beef. One reviewer found the patty overcooked and dry, another found the burger well done and not juicy with a stale-feeling bottom bun, and one felt better burgers are available elsewhere in the city at a similar or lower price. One diner found the loaded fries too rich, another noted no hot drinks and no allergy catering, and an optional service charge is added to the bill. On one visit a broken kitchen extractor meant only chicken burgers were served, and the Bronx chicken burger was still called delicious.

“The best burger in Bristol. The waiter was also amazing. The food came out surprisingly quick, yet I was the first person in and it wasn't very busy. They do add an optional service charge to the bill but it's definitely worth it.”

“Nice spot, very promising friendly service, unfortunately the burger was nowhere near the epic levels I was hoping for based on some of the reviews. The burger was not pink - def more on the well done side and was not juicy. The bun also felt a little stale. The bottom part of the bun in particular do not feel that fresh at all. This meant the whole burger turned into a fairly stodgy chewing affair. The chicken wings on the other hand were really tasty and would have them again. It was quite late - around 20:30 when I got there so perhaps the experience may have been better earlier in the day.”

“First of all the positives: - Beautifully presented burger - Milk bun itself is top notch. Soft, pillowy and robust enough to carry the rest of the burger. - Lovely, friendly staff. However, the beef patty was overcooked, dry, and missing the unctuous beefiness you really want in a burger. We got the Bronx and the Mira. It is not particularly cheap (Clifton tax i suppose). There are better burgers in the city (Danny's, squeezed, fattso etc) at a cheaper or similar price range.”

“Hands down the best upper market burger and sides I’ve had. Flawless every time I’ve been (probably nearing 10x). The chapo, my go to, is incredible, and so are the loaded chips and fried pickles.”

“Recently visited the Milk Bun for lunch with friends on a Sunday. The burgers looked incredible but the stand out was by the loaded fries! The special salt and pepper chips were unbelievable. On a separate note it is not ideal if you have any allergies and they don't cater for this, the restaurant openly say this on their menus and website which is fair enough. I had the chicken wings which were slightly pink but once I checked with the serving staff I felt reassured because they use a type of meat where this is common - so don't panic! The fried pickles for me were particularly delicious. I was a bit disappointed to see they didn't serve any hot drinks but overall the food was delicious, the service was good and the atmosphere was nice.”

Good to know

“Milk Bun was born out of the love for good food, drink and hospitality. We specialise in what we think are the best burgers in the world, we make our own buns on site all day every day without fail. We aren’t just a generic out of the box burger chain or diner or cheap frozen patty spot, we source great quality ingredients and world class drinks to accompany them. Our aim has always been and still is to provide the best burgers that anyone can get, simple!”
