Quick info
About Pasture
Pasture is a steak house in Bristol at 2 Portwall Ln, built around cooking over fire. In-house butchers handpick meat from south-west farms and prepare it themselves, so the kitchen works from cuts chosen by its own team. Starters include beef short rib croquettes, and the Chateaubriand is served for sharing. The rib eye comes with peppercorn sauce as an accompaniment. Reservations are required. A private dining room gives groups a space of their own for special occasions.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often come for the steaks, with the chateaubriand singled out repeatedly and the rib eye, filet with peppercorn sauce and sirloin with garlic butter also named. Reviewers describe them as cooked to perfection, with a smoked taste from the grill. Close behind are the beef short rib croquettes and the crispy squid, though one reviewer found the squid delicious but not crispy. Sides also draw praise, especially the carrots, the mac and cheese and the truffle chips. The belly pork and the burger were called good but not outstanding, and one table found the Yorkshire puddings burnt at the edges. Service is mostly described as friendly, professional and happy to explain the cuts. One table, however, described an arrogant server who never smiled, and another waited for drinks on a couple of occasions. Several groups celebrating occasions mention staff adding unprompted extras, including a birthday touch, and one table received complimentary croquettes while waiting for a large cut of steak.

“My wife and I spent the day exploring Bristol and couldn’t have asked for a better way to end it than an absolutely exquisite meal at Pasture. We didn’t have a reservation, but the team was incredibly accommodating. We enjoyed a drink at the bar while they found us a table, and from there the entire experience was fantastic. Our waiter, Cristian, was simply fabulous—warm, friendly, attentive, and full of excellent recommendations. We started with the crispy squid, which was quite honestly the best version of squid we’ve ever had. For our mains, I had the filet with peppercorn sauce, while my wife had the sirloin with garlic butter. Both steaks were cooked beautifully. We finished with Cristian’s recommendations of the chocolate dome and the cheesecake, which were the perfect ending to an outstanding meal. Wonderful food, terrific service, and a fantastic atmosphere from start to finish. Pasture was one of the highlights of our day in Bristol, and we couldn’t recommend it more highly. We’ll absolutely be back whenever we find ourselves in Bristol again!”

“Incredible food, but let down by the service. The Food: Overall, the food was absolutely amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection and completely lived up to the hype. Since it’s a massive cut of meat, we expected a bit of a wait, but the kitchen kindly sent out some complimentary croquettes while we waited, which was a fantastic touch and very much appreciated. My only minor critique is that the Yorkshire puddings were a bit burnt around the edges, like they had been forgotten in the oven for an extra 2 or 3 minutes. But it wasn't a huge issue and didn't ruin the meal. The Service: Unfortunately, the service put the rest of the experience to shame. We were served by a lady with short hair whose attitude was extremely arrogant and discouraging. Our entire table felt the negative energy. Even though we made a point to say thank you every single time she brought something to the table, we didn’t get a single smile or acknowledgment in return. She made it very clear that she was not happy to be there, and she took it out on us with her attitude. The Verdict: Despite the service, the food is good enough that we will definitely be going back. However, we will explicitly be requesting a different server to look after our table next time.”

“We booked a private room for our “meat” celebration. The room is beautiful and great view of the Church. Food was just amazing, perfectly cooked steaks were definitely the worth trying. Staff were so friendly and professional at the same time. We all have great time and will come back again for sure”

“Lively venue, starters, recommend the short rib croquet, and crispy squid (it wasn’t crispy but delicious). Belly pork was good, but not outstanding. Mains, a variety of super steaks, shout out to the chateaubriand and rib eye, yet everyone was very happy with their choice! Beef burger was fine, but no more than a good burger. Pick the truffle chips as your potato choice, others were good but they were the pick of the group. I’m not a mac and cheese fan, but was suggested to try another’s and it was excellent. Tomato salad is highly recommended (sliced fresh tomatoes with puréed tomatoes on top). The pick of the sides (and a must) was the side of carrots. Out of this world. Service was professional, polite and friendly (Conor) though we did find ourselves waiting for drinks on a couple of occasions (hence service had to drop to a high 4 score). Overall a fantastic experience, highly recommended from a discerning group of restaurant foodies. Go, you will be pleased….”

“First time here & it blew our mind. We're big foodies, especially when it comes to steak. From the moment we walked into this beautifully presented air conditioned restaurant, we knew that we were in for a real treat. The food & drinks were next level with service to match. Everything we had was packed with flavour. Hot, fresh & left us wanting to come back time & time again. Our server was Iggy, who went above & beyond. We really enjoyed learning about all of the cuts of meats before choosing. The service was seamless & polished from everyone involved. My husband really appreciated the little birthday touch at the end. Can't wait to come back. Worth every single penny for the quality we received. Everything was cooked & seasoned to perfection. Thank you P.s. Highly recommend the short rib beef croquettes, the mac n cheese side, the pepper corn sauce to accompany your steak”
