About The Vine Bardfield
The Vine Bardfield is a burger-focused pub in Braintree at 1 Vine St, set up by three friends. The menu runs from a classic 6oz burger to a surf and turf inspired burger, with named creations in between, including the Cat Su Burger, which has an all-black bun, and the disco burger. Sides include croquettes, onion rings, chips and fries. The bar pours beers, ales and wine, and Perky Blenders coffee is served inside. Live music is part of the programme, with open mic nights and a live band for group events. Dogs are welcome. The pub also has an extension with large windows and bifold doors.

Customer Review Summary
Burgers are the clear draw at this Great Bardfield pub, with reviewers praising the Cat Su Burger with its all black bun, a disco burger one diner was steered toward, a crispy beef burger with slight spice, and a surf and turf style option. Close behind come the sides, where croquettes and onion rings get a mention, along with ribs, a Sunday Yorkshire and a good range of beers, ales and a tasty Pinot. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, and several note that the menu is a change from the standard burger list. One reviewer with a coeliac wife was told almost everything could be made gluten free. The live band, open mic and Perky Blenders coffee also come up, and one group of 15 celebrated a birthday here. Some reviewers suggest booking if wanting to eat straight away. The main criticism is from one reviewer who had to ask for menus, ketchup and cutlery, was told a non brioche bun was fine but received brioche, and found the Asian slaw to be coleslaw with a few peanuts. Another found the seat near the front window chilly, and one diner had separate fries with the burger.

“Another stop on my grandson’s very spoilt “week at Nanny’s” — and The Vine at Great Bardfield was an absolute winner for both of us! From the moment we arrived, the staff were so incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes such a difference. And being dog friendly is a massive plus for us — it meant nobody had to be left behind! The food was exceptional. I had the ribs, which were absolutely delicious, and my grandson had the burger. His verdict? The best burger he’s eaten during his week at Nanny’s — and believe me, there’s been plenty of eating, so that’s quite an accolade! 😂 Great food, genuinely lovely staff, relaxed atmosphere and somewhere you immediately feel comfortable. We both absolutely loved it and will definitely be back. A proper little Great Bardfield gem. ❤️”

“Mediocre service and food . Had to ask for menus, food arrived no cutlery, then needed to ask for ketchup. Had requested a for non brioche bun for one burger, “yes that was fine” , didn’t happen then told only brioche, nod to an Asian slaw was a few peanuts added to a coleslaw. Quality of food pretty average, wouldn’t go back.”
