About Baked N Loaded Spuds

Baked N Loaded Spuds is a baked-potato takeaway on Hollingwood Lane in Bradford, built around named spuds rather than a wide menu. Portions start from roughly two large potatoes with garlic butter, and the range runs from the Tandoori spud with chicken tikka masala to the Shawarma Spud and the Old School Spud with tuna, with a half-and-half option for anyone splitting two fillings. The coleslaw is made with purple cabbage rather than carrot and white cabbage, and the counter staff will swap combinations, add extras or double the butter on request. There are no seats inside, so orders are placed at the counter and packed for eating at home or at work, and a wait is usual while each spud is put together. The shop opens daily and takes walk-in orders, with no booking involved.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers split on Baked N Loaded Spuds, and the most repeated point is a very large potato, often two to a serving, that outweighs its toppings. Several say the fillings run thin, with little cheese, beans, tuna or chicken to cover the potato, and one reports a chicken Alfredo spud with no visible chicken and no garlic butter. Pulled chicken is called dry and bland by two reviewers, and one dislikes the purple cabbage coleslaw while another says it looks and tastes brilliant. One describes the potato as cold and not fluffy, and one says they felt sick after a few bites of the heavy portion. Praise centers on the Tandoori Spud, Chicken Curry Spud, Old School Spud with plenty of tuna, and a Shawarma Spud, along with soft potato, garlic butter and crispy onions. Several call the young staff friendly and willing to change up combinations, and one suggests asking for double butter. Service speed is mixed, with one reviewer describing slow ordering despite no queue, and another served quickly. One reviewer says the potato was fluffy and the kitchen swapped toppings on request.

“My personal and honest review of this place, I would rate it a 4 out of 10. First thing that is good is the portion size but I do agree with other people that have mentioned they could do with adding more toppings as the topping are the main bit. I went for a cheese , beans and tuna, I agreed to crispy onions but they're not for me, I just don't like the taste and it overpowers every other flavour. The cheese was a little less for me, beans again very little to be seen, tuna was ok. I did feel as though the potato could have been warmer and softer , seemed to be a bit on the colder side and wasn't soft and fluffy inside as I'd have liked. Once you've had a few bites you do start to feel a little sick, not sure if that's just because it's a big and heavy portion but it did put me off. Would I try one again? Probably not, I'll stick to what i like, I gave it a try, the first 2 or 3 bites were good but after that it didn't do it for me. Few improvements to be made.”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10/10 – Highly Recommended! I ordered the Chicken Curry Spud and the Old School Spud, and both were outstanding. The baked potato itself was perfectly cooked soft, fluffy, and topped with delicious garlic butter that made it incredibly tasty. The Chicken Curry Spud was generously loaded with tender chicken, melted cheese, and crispy fried onions, creating the perfect combination of flavours. The Old School Spud was equally impressive, packed with plenty of tuna and a generous filling throughout. The service was exceptional from start to finish. I was served quickly, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the premises were spotless and well-presented. If you’re looking for a hearty, delicious meal, Baked & Loaded is definitely the place to be. You should seriously consider opening a branch in Lancashire! I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“I go quite often to Bradford from Blackburn for my business so today someone recommended Baked n Loaded, so after finding out the address on Great Horton road I went in, two young men were behind the counter. The young lads were very friendly, helpful and professional, the food was absolutely fantastic and the price was very reasonable. Definitely will try again and definitely would recommend it.”

“I’ve just been to the shop tonight for me and my children. It’s been my second visit this week and I’d probably say I’m a regular customer. Thought I’d try the chicken Alfredo spud tonight but where is the chicken Alfredo? I asked for garlic butter and that’s nowhere to been seen. The potato Is super dry with the lack of toppings it’s practically inedible. £8.50 for a dry potato with cheese and the tiniest bit of Alfredo sauce because I didn’t get one bit of chicken! As i say we used this shop a lot but the quality tonight was really bad . Super disappointing, ive added pictures after me trying to find some chicken…as you can see non existent!”

“I chose my own fillings of butter, baked beans, cheese, coleslaw, and pulled chicken. The portion of potato itself was very large—they included two potatoes—but the amount of toppings didn’t match the ratio, so most of the meal ended up being plain potato. Unfortunately, the pulled chicken was very dry and VERY bland, and I wasn’t a fan of the coleslaw either. It contained purple cabbage rather than the more traditional carrot and white cabbage combination you’d expect in a simple coleslaw, which made it less enjoyable for me. Not to mention it took quite a while to prepare, around 20 minutes. Could've definitely made a tastier one at home. Overall, I found it quite pricey for what it was, and the flavour was bland. I constantly had to sip on water due to it being so dry. Personally, I don’t understand the hype around these baked potato places. It’s something that’s very easy to make at home, often with better flavour and a more satisfying balance of toppings. For me, it just didn’t feel worth the price, and I wouldn’t order from here again. My taste buds were left bored, spuds are supposed to be filling, hot, fresh and give you a homely feel. Why people constantly buy from spud places is ridiculous. Make. It. At. Home.”
