About Kerala Coffee House
Chai runs through the menu at Kerala Coffee House, a Kerala and South Indian restaurant on Holdenhurst Road in Bournemouth, where masala chai and the strong powdered tea known as adicha are mainstays. The kitchen pairs that with Malabar biriyani and beef curry, alongside counter snacks including pazham pori, egg puffs, samosa, chicken cutlet and rolls. The setup sits at the subway corner near Bournemouth station, a short walk from the beach. Tables are taken on a walk-in basis rather than by reservation, and outdoor seating gives the option of eating in the open air. Orders can also be packed up for eating off site, though snack items sometimes sell out later in the day. The restaurant opens Monday to Saturday and closes on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Biryani is what reviewers return to most, with one calling the Malabar biriyani the cherry on top and another describing a single portion as enough for an adult. Close behind are the beef curry and chicken fry, both described as full of flavour, and the chai, from the masala chai to the adicha chaya that one reviewer says tastes like home. Snacks such as samosa, egg puffs, pazham pori and chicken cutlet also earn mentions, along with the Kothuporotta. Reviewers point to generous portions, friendly staff and affordable prices for the nearby student crowd, and one notes good veg options. The main caveat comes from a three-star review, which found the pola, beef roll and biriyanis average and called the beef cutlet too oily, overloaded with potato, barely any beef and bland. One reviewer suggests ordering takeaway early, since items sold out by the time their dine-in meal finished.

“🥳 Hidden gem near Bournemouth Beach!😋🤤 Such a lovely spot just a short walk from the beach. Don’t let the small, subway-style setup fool you — the food and service here are absolutely fantastic. We tried the Biryani and Kothuporotta on day one and it was so good that we came back the next day for takeaway. The portions are generous — one Biryani was easily enough for an adult, and the takeaway boxes were XL size. The real star for me was the *Beef Curry*. Hands down the best I’ve had in the UK. Rich, flavorful, and the portion size was double what you’d usually get in Kerala. Both the Biryani and curry packs were huge value for money. The staff were super friendly and attentive throughout. Great service made the whole experience even better. Loved it so much we went back the next day and tried their snacks too. The *Adicha Chaya* (tea) was spot on — tasted just like home. Quick tip: Order your takeaway early! By the time you finish dining in, the takeaway items tend to sell out fast (It happened to us). Great food, great portions, great value, and excellent service. Highly recommend if you’re in Bournemouth and craving authentic Kerala flavors. You will get parking space in the nearby ASDA. P.S. for Mallus.. Nalla neyyullla beefcurryum porottayum nalla adicha podi chaayayum.. cheap rate nu vayarum manasum nirayum for sure. Quality um supperaa we shared our food with our 1.5 year old baby.. trust me guys You will Love it.”

“What a gem of a place! Perfectly pinpointed in the subway area near Bournemouth station, Chaii Stories is a must-visit. I stopped by for a mid-afternoon treat and it was superb. The masala chai was absolutely perfect—spiced, aromatic, and warming, exactly what you hope for. It was paired with a delicious, freshly prepared samosa served with a tangy and herby green chutney that was an absolute delight. The combination was faultless. The location is also part of the charm. It’s a fantastic spot to sit, sip your chai, and enjoy the constant, lively bustle of the city moving through the subway area. It offers a real slice of urban energy. Highly recommended for a quick, authentic, and delicious pick-me-up. I will definitely be back!”
