  “The food was very tasty and big sized portions. The chocolate cake was gianormous. The chef were able to adapt the chicken wings so they wouldn't be spicy for our youngest diner (aged 8). The restaurant had a cosy modern feel. There were plenty staff. Would definitely visit again.”

  “We've eaten in the restaurant many times and never had a bad meal but we had to use it as an emergency back-up for takeaway recently and it just doesn't measure up. Firstly it's roughly £2-£2.50 per person more expensive than our local place and secondly, because it's a good bit further away, when the food arrived it wasn't hot, it was warm at best (understandable given the geography but certainly something to bear in mind). Both of these points would have felt more forgivable if the food have been great but it was just okay. It's probably a common complaint when people who have a favourite local place have to unexpectedly use somewhere else but nothing we ordered was as tasty as our usual; not bad, but nowhere near as good. I still wouldn't hesitate to book a table for a sit down meal but his was a chance for the CH to steal a takeaway customer and they just didn't take it!”

  “Ordered a takeaway. Used to really like this place. Haven't ordered in a while. The chips had no potatoes left in them they were so over cooked, Thai spring rolls soggy, chicken balls greasy and none of the dishes really had any flavour. Very disappointed”

  “Staff were all very friendly and welcoming when we attended. Our server was Jake and he was absolutely brilliant and very attentive. Such a credit to the place. Food was delicious and fresh as always. Portion sizes are fantastic and you definitely leave full and satisfied. Plenty of menu selection and plenty of authentic dishes as well. Kids menu also available. Restaurant is laid out well and plenty of room to move around.”

  “Came in with our 7 year old daughter for our anniversary and had been so looking forward to visiting due to the reviews. We ordered the lunch 2 course meal and the kids chicken curry. Starters came out and were nice and had no issues. My daughter’s dinner came out and looked like an adult meal with huge pieces of chicken, however, we cut it up and she ate all the rice and sauce. No problems so far, however, did notice, no one came near the table to see if all was ok or any more drinks. I ordered same as my daughter, a chicken breast curry and boiled rice. The dish was identical in potion size to the kids. As soon as mine came out I could see the chicken did not look right, almost looked like there was a skin on it or had been reheated for a long time. The rice was solid also. I took one bit of chicken and tasted a tiny bit and had to spit it out into the napkin. It was very very unfresh and tasted strange. I tried to get a staff members attention for around 10 minutes and had to go to the bar to ask them to remove dish and I could not eat this. My husband’s dish was noodles and chilli chicken and was absolutely fine and he enjoyed it. Service very lacking and ruined this experience with this dish. I could not trust to eat anything else they sent out so decided not to have any food. Service is worst I have ever experienced and even had to go to bar to pay. Think twice before visiting here, I wish I looked a little more in depth at reviews!!”

  “Review of The Cotton House, Longcroft, Dennyloanhead. So this is my favourite Chinese in the area and we went for a sit-down meal - I normally get takeaway on the way home from school. Asian duck salad and chicken noodle soup to start, with a duck roll starter to share, too. My salad was the star - flavours of hoisin duck pancakes. Beautifully cooked duck - not a micro-gram of fat in sight and falling apart - with red onion (too much red onion), tomatoes (why?), lovely cucumber, fresh leaves, hoisin dressing and a beautiful topping of toasted almonds, golden sultanas and pomegranate. Never seen this dish anywhere else - I’ll be honest, i was expecting a noodle and peanuts affair - and I’d have it again in a heartbeat. It was fantastic. Ian very pleased with noodle soup. It was a Cantonese dish and he ate it regardless so it must have been good! Duck rolls not as expected - we thought they’d be wee spring rolls. Instead they had a crunchy breadcrumb shell and inside was duck, gravy and bean sprouts. Nice. A mysterious pink dip on the side was enjoyed although I still have no idea what was in it. Seafood ‘fusion’ and chicken fried rice to follow. The seafood was the star of the show. 3 fresh scallops with beautifully fresh orange rows still attached, plump slices of seabass, beautiful squid and plump mussels, accompanied by aubergine, bamboo, carrots and green beans in a beautifully green coconut curry sauce rich with lime leaves. Jeezo. It’s a real triump they managed this for under the £20 mark. I was blown away. Ian’s fried rice was generously portioned and came with gravy. My egg fried rice was fluffy and had a braw texture. Two cocktails, four colas and a cider were procured. A wee word for the espresso martini - a large and great one of those. Don’t miss. Honestly I was blown away. I’ve had Chinese all over the place - New York, London, Newcastle, Michelin starred restaurants, AA rosetted restaurants. But this braw wee place in Denny with the Van Gogh wallpaper is up there with the very best. A solid 9/10. As a bonus, atmosphere not stuffy and service quick. Enormous portions and prices very reasonable. A fantastic choice if you like Thai, Malaysian or cantonese. Not much of a dim sum place - just the standards (go to opium in Glasgow if that’s your bag). At the mildly britishified Asian dishes that they do, they’re the finest. For people with big appetites who appreciate the difference between a takeaway and the ‘oriental fine dining’ experience the Cotton House offer. A damn fine dinner.”

  “Lots to choose from on the menu, tasty food and big portions. Cocktail choice good too. We visited for my mum’s 80th birthday and the staff were happy to oblige a sparkler in her desert and a rendition of happy birthday! The restaurant was busy on a Wednesday night, which was a good sign. Recommended.”
