Quick info
About The Noodle Shed
On Folds Rd in Bolton, The Noodle Shed is a noodle shop with an "Eat & Heat" lunchtime service, so you can collect a lunch and reheat it at home in the evening. The kitchen makes its wontons in house, and the wonton noodles in soup are one way to try them. Diners choose how spicy their dish is. A specials board changes daily, and the chef's special is posted on Facebook. Artworks hang on the walls and are available to buy. When the main room is full, a heated cabin outside provides additional seating. Parking is on the street off the main road, as there is no dedicated car park.

Customer Review Summary
Soup is the most frequent draw at this Cantonese family-run spot, with reviewers praising the wonton soup, including homemade wontons and a large portion, and a slow cooked Sichuan pork noodle soup described as juicy and full of flavours. Close behind are the beef dishes, with one reviewer calling the beef special like butter and another singling out the crispy beef. Chicken chow mein, salt and pepper chicken wings with crunchy batter, and a Singaporean rice vermicelli made less spicy on request also earn mentions, along with a daily specials board. Reviewers describe friendly, welcoming staff and portions that range from ok to huge, and several say they will return. The caveat is that the space is small with limited seats, and parking is not easy. One reviewer who ordered sweet and sour shredded beef, chicken sweet corn soup and BBQ ribs found the flavour closer to British-style Chinese food. Some suggest reserving a table, since it can be busy. Diners also close on the heated cabin that takes overspill when the main room is full.

“As soon as I walked in, I was welcomed by the amazing aroma of curry. The food was absolutely delicious, full of rich and authentic flavors. Every dish was well-prepared and packed with taste. I really enjoyed my meal and would definitely recommend this place to my friends. I’ll be coming back again!”

Owned by a Hong Kong family who have lived in the UK for many years, the restaurant is only open three days a week, and the owner and her family are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, I picked the wrong dishes again this time. I ordered the Sweet & Sour Shredded Beef with Rice, Chicken Sweet Corn Soup and BBQ Ribs. It was my first time trying shredded beef coated in breadcrumbs before being deep-fried. While everything was freshly made to order, the overall flavour was more like British-style Chinese food. Next time, I’ll probably play it safe and try the Pho, which seems like a more reliable choice. 🍜😅 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷 👌🏻 Sweet & Sour Shredded Beef with Rice 👌🏻Chicken Sweet Corn Soup and BBQ Ribs 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 🅿️ Free on-street parking available outside the restaurant. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 The Noodle Shed 215 Folds Rd, Bolton BL1 2TW”

“Second visit to the Noodle Shed and once again a cracking meal. We went for the Won Ton soup. Really large portion and quality. You can really taste the herbs and vegetables. Service, as before was top and very helpful. We will be going again.”

“Booked a table for 2 for lunch today. Reserved a table (recommended as can be busy) . On entering we were greeted with a warm ,welcoming smile, and shown to our table. Service was swift with drinks within minutes. Order was taken shortly after. We had a shared starter and a main each. Starter was served almost immediately, fresh from the kitchen. After a short break our mains came . They were huge. We shared a Chicken Chow Mein and a Chicken and Ginger with Spring onions and vermicelli from the specials board (changes daily). Both were hot, well presented and most importantly delicious. We will be back. Because they're only open at lunch times , there is an Eat & Heat service. You order a takeaway at lunchtime that you can take home and reheat in the evening. Our bill came to £23 , and was well worth the money. Highly recommended.”

“More local customers here. The artworks on the walls are available for sale. Food is nice - customers can pick how spicy they want. The tailor-made taste made them special. But the store is pretty small with limited seats, and not easy for parking.”
