Customer Review Summary
Fish draws the most praise, with reviewers singling out the oysters, the fish specials and the monkfish, and two describing their fish mains as perfect. Close behind is steak, along with a Sunday lunch where the beef came out rare as asked, plus seafood ravioli, prawns, braised lamb and a goat's cheese starter. Several call the market menu a bargain, and desserts such as the crumble, lemon curd cheesecake and affogato get good words. One diner notes plenty of gluten free options. Staff are repeatedly described as attentive, friendly and welcoming, courses are not rushed, and the room is often busy. The one real complaint comes from a diner who found the rack of lamb very fatty and tough, and a chicken stroganoff tough and lacking cream, and who felt the fillet steak price could not be justified. Another reviewer was pleased when someone came from the kitchen to the table to ask whether everything was okay.

“Exceptional food and service. We opted for the Sunday Lunch Special and the portions sizes were very generous. My beef was cooked to perfection, rare! Thoroughly enjoyed and look forward to returning soon.”

“Lovely place, fab atmosphere, great attentive staff. Was going for the fillet steak, but really cannot justify £40.50 for this so opted for rack of lsmb which was very fatty and tough. The vegetables were lovely and cooked to perfection. Husband opted for chicken stroganoff and he said the meat was tough. I thought stroganoff had cream in it??? Not in this one. Disappointed, but maybe just made the wrong food choices today.”

“We had a lovely meal here, the food was excellent, the atmosphere was good, it was very busy, the staff were attentive. We both had fish dishes from the main menu and they were perfect. I had the crumble for dessert, which I felt could be shared, it was very filling, and delicious.”

“Where do I begin. The service was wonderful, but the food, oh my days it was wonderful, the steak, the prawns, the Sunday lunch, and the monkfish were fabulous. Everything was wonderful, the desserts were just as good as the starters and mains We had never been before, have always wanted to try it, now I know what it is like we will be back sooner rather than later, please tell your kitchen staff to keep doing what they are brilliant at And thank you Nick.”
