About Bistro 341

Bistro 341 is a small family-run bistro at 341 Blackburn Rd in Bolton. The menu follows the seasons and is offered as a set of two courses or three. Steaks are cooked by the chef, and truffle ravioli also appears among the dishes. The chef brings the main courses out to the table, so the person who cooked each plate also serves it. The dining room is compact, which suits a place run on that scale. Reservations are required.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the food, with the truffle ravioli singled out as the best part of one celebration dinner. Others point to the chef's steaks, crab macaroni, pigs cheeks, pork tenderloin and sea bass. Several describe a quiet, low-lit, cosy and intimate room with polite, unobtrusive and friendly service, and a few call the value good and say the food is cooked fresh. The recurring trade-off is the setting. Reviewers say the decor is tired and in need of a makeover, and one notes the interior is not large, though they feel the food made up for it. One dissenting review found the food bland, the vegetables wet and flavourless, and the dessert smothered in strawberry syrup, while still calling the server lovely. One reviewer suggests booking if a table can be had. Another recalls the chef bringing the main courses out himself.

“This is always by far the best meal I've had . I have recommended this restaurant to many people . It isn't large inside though and in need of a make over but the food is amazing”

“Great food in a low-fuss environment, quiet and low lighting ambience. Had crab macaroni and pigs cheeks for starters, with pork tenderloin and sea bass for mains. Perfect food!”

“We were looking forward to visiting based on the amazing reviews but unfortunately our experience did not match them. The food was bland, edible but no flavour. The veg was wet (a pool of water was in the serving dish) and flavourless and the dessert was covered in the cheap strawberry syrup you can buy for ice cream, so any flavour there was lost to the syrup. The restaurant itself is tired and dingy (the blinds were closed on a bright afternoon) and the ladies toilet door doesn't close. Unfortunately based on this we won't be returning. The lady serving was lovely though and I do feel bad leaving a negative review for a local business but I just can't match our experience with the other reviews, which on closer inspection are mostly from years ago so maybe things have changed in the last 12 months 🤷🏼‍♀️”

“Fabulous meal last night. High quality cooking and presentation. The prices are very reasonable for the food on offer. Will definitely visit again. Loved the service and the chef himself brought our main courses out.”
