About Hamzah Sweet & Bakers
Weekend nashta drives the kitchen at Hamzah Sweet & Bakers, a halal restaurant on St Helens Rd in Bolton, where the Pakistani breakfast spread brings people in at the end of the week. Halwa puri and chana puri anchor that menu, nihari arrives with parathay, and aloo paratha and plain paratha come off the griddle alongside fresh roti. Hot chai is poured with the morning food, and samosa chaat and chickpeas sit out on a display counter. The whole menu is halal, so observant diners can order across it without checking. Tables run on a walk-in basis rather than reservations, and the doors open daily. A step-free entrance lets visitors with mobility needs get in without help, and high chairs mean families with young children can settle in for breakfast. Orders also go out through Uber Eats for anyone eating at home.

Customer Review Summary
The traditional breakfast spread anchors most praise here, with the aloo paratha named again and again, described by satisfied diners as soft, well cooked and served in huge portions. Nihari runs close behind, called full of flavour, and several single out hot chai and fresh roti, one calling it the best halwa puri and nashta place in Bolton. Consistency is the recurring sticking point. Regulars returning after a change say weekend breakfast has gone downhill, reporting burnt parathas with the back layers missing and chana that turned watery and tasteless, while another complains the puri for halwa puri has shrunk. Samosa chaat draws the sharpest criticism, described as ketchupy, sweet and tasting weeks old. One reviewer recounts a far worse visit, foul smelling kebabs binned in front of them, rude service and two hairs in the tea. On the counter side, a delivery customer with a missing chana portion says a staff member apologised by phone and promised to replace it.

“Very kind people. They gave an amazing service and were very helpful. The food was amazing. We got an aloo paratha and a nihari curry. It was delicious and the portions size was huge”

“We’re ate at this restaurant twice , the first time we ate it was horrible the food smelled like it’s a week old and was bubbling up. The second time we ate was yesterday and we thought it would be a lot better since they done some changes. We ordered a chicken curry and kebabs with 2 teas and alloo paratha. Let me talk about the kebabs they smellet like a dead rat so we complained and in front of our eyes he threw them in the bin and to top it off the service was so rude and bad then comes the worst part there was 2 hair in the tea that’s when we got up and stopped eating n left.”

“Puri size for halwa puri has gone too small now 1 person can easily eat 3 puris alone lol - very bad - please improve the puri size back to what it ise to be, you have increased the price of halwa puri with inflation which is understandable but why also reduced the size of puris ?”

“Either owners have changed or chefs have changed. Eaten twice on weekends there in December / January and food was not to standard. Burnt aloo paratha both visits with the back layers missing, the other was a dry plain paratha and not thoroughly cooked. The taste / recipe of the chana has completed changed. Its watery and no taste now. Sorry but weekend breakfast there has gone down-hill. Dissappointing”

How this listing is sourced
- Where the data comes from
- Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
- How it stays current
- Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
- How it is ranked
- Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
