Quick info
About Knead A Slice
Knead A Slice is a Neapolitan pizza restaurant at 29 Fore Bondgate in Bishop Auckland, where dogs are welcome and get a pup cup of their own. The pizza menu includes a goats cheese topping with pesto, and vegan and gluten free options are available. Breakfast is served too, with a Big Boy Breakfast alongside an egg and bacon breakfast sandwich and a breakfast wrap. Locally sourced coffee, including flat whites, is on the menu, and the bar adds beers, cocktails and flavoured iced teas, pineapple among them. The restaurant is closed Monday to Wednesday, and pizza is not served on Sundays. Upstairs seating gives larger groups extra room, and orders go in at the bar or through a QR code on the tables. A car park sits over the road.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast draws most of the praise, with reviewers naming an egg and bacon breakfast sandwich, a breakfast wrap and the Big Boy Breakfast, which one diner recommends for a traditional English start. A flat white is described as perfect every time, and one group says the relaxed breakfast beat trips to Durham for parking and crowded cafes. Pizza comes close behind, with the goats cheese pesto singled out as light, bubbly and nicely charred. Another diner enjoyed goats cheese with pine nuts and hot honey, alongside garlic chips, a burrata salad and a pineapple iced tea. Service is repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and reviewers mention careful handling of an allergy and knowledge of gluten free needs. Several note the place is dog friendly, including a pup cup for the dog, and one mentions a vegan option. Quick service and ordering by QR code at the table also come up. One party of five celebrating a birthday says staff happily brought out the cake they had brought themselves, candles included.

“What a fantastic spot! We stopped by after a long day of visiting the area and it was everything that we had hoped for. Pizzas were delicous - thin, soft base and puffy crusts. I had the goats cheese, pine nuts and hot honey and added mushrooms which was a great combo, my husband had the bolognase and added chilli - he loved his too. The garlic chips with delicious as was the burrata salad. The flavoured iced teas went down a treat, pineapple iced tea is now my favourite and not something I had tried before! Service was attentive and very friendly. And they were extremely helpful and careful with my allergy, I felt very confident eating here. A must visit if you're in the area.”

“Really great food, couldn't fault it. Very welcoming service. Vegan option available. Lots of seats upstairs too, can cater for quite big groups. Big and cheap car park over the road. Choice of bar service or easy to use QR code on the tables.”

“Since relocating to Bishop from Orange County California last year for my wife who is from the area, I was excited to discover Knead A Slice 8 minutes walk from my front door. Every time i have come in to eat breakfast, the staff have been gracious and welcoming. My Flat White is always the same, perfect as is my egg and bacon breakfast sandwich. The vibe is chill but still energetic which reflects what I'm used to back home. Ive yet to try the pizzas and thats something that i need to correct. but for now, kudos and thank you!”
