Quick info
About Gaucho Birmingham
Gaucho Birmingham is a Latin American steak house at 55 Colmore Row, in Birmingham's business district. Its dining room takes its textures and tones from Argentina's forests. Steak leads the menu, with rump steak among the cuts. A set menu runs at lunchtime in two-course and three-course formats, and the three-course option includes a Prosecco lunch. The drinks list covers cocktails and wine, including Malbec. A private dining room gives groups a space of their own, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers come for the set lunch and early-week menus, praising the value of dishes like squid, rump steak, chocolate mousse, linguine and coconut panna cotta with mango and passion fruit sauce, often alongside a Malbec or a Prosecco lunch. The chicken and chorizo empanadas and the cookie dough are singled out as very delicious, and one chicken-only eater said a partner's steak changed her mind. Servers and hostesses are repeatedly called lovely and attentive, and one server checked with the chef about dietary requirements. The complaints are specific. One party waited almost an hour to order in a quiet room, then found every steak overcooked, dry and lacking flavor. Another said it took three people to bring water and that the main was the weakest of three courses. One found the steak smaller than expected, and drinks were called ridiculously overpriced. Live music was advertised but no longer played, and the diners who raised it were given a free dessert, as was a couple celebrating an anniversary.

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had lunch at Gaucho today and had a wonderful experience! The restaurant is beautiful, and the set menu offers incredible value for money. Our server, Tia, was absolutely lovely — so friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The service was super quick and amazing from start to finish. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be coming back! Highly recommended! 🥂✨”

“I decided to give the restaurant another chance because I really liked the ambience during my first visit, and I’m glad I did. I’m genuinely impressed this time and would definitely come back more often. Mr George was also very professional and explained why the other manager may have acted the way he did. From a professional point of view, his explanation made sense, and he also apologised, which I appreciated. I guess a bad first experience isn’t always enough to judge a place. Glad I gave it another chance.”

“My first time at Gaucho but certainly not my last! We had a fabulous 3 course Prosecco lunch which was delicious with excellent service from CleibeT in a very stylish setting.”

“Two courses menu only costs £10 and it’s justified. The linguine tastes really good and the same as the dessert. The dessert I chose is coconut panna cotta with mango and passion fruit sauce.”

“It was not the best place ever but it was not the worst. It took 3 people to bring water to the table. Out of the 3 course meal the main was the weakest. The cookie dough and the empanadas were very very delicious. Realistically I would not return back except for the chicken and chorizo empanadas.”
