About Big John's Lawley Middleway

Big John's Lawley Middleway is a fast food restaurant in Birmingham, on Langdon Street. The menu includes a pizza topped with chopped fried chicken and garlic sauce, and fried chicken pieces and chips are sold as a combo with a drink in a promotion. It opens almost 24 hours, which suits late-night orders. The drive-through runs as two lanes that narrow to one, and staff walk around the car park to find cars for drive-through orders. Parking is 90 minutes. Condiments are not on the tables, but customers can ask for them.

Customer Review Summary

Drive-through food draws the most praise, with reviewers calling it hot and tasty and singling out the pizza and mixed donner, Peri Chicken, Massala Fish on Naan, a saver menu burger and a mango milkshake. One calls it a Desi version of high end McDonalds. Others are far less happy with the chicken and chips. One reviewer received a batter-coated bone with no meat instead of a breast piece, another found a loaded chips order entirely bad, and a third describes a pizza of plain chopped fried chicken with a garlic sauce that left them nauseated. One reviewer reports finding a human nail in an Uber Eats order, and another describes a cleaner using the same gloves to cut pizza after wiping tables. Drive-through visitors describe queues into the car park, a menu screen that keeps switching to offer adverts, and workers searching the car park for the right cars. One reviewer was told chips were sold separately from chicken despite a combo promotion, then was refused management contact details.

“I've come up from another city at the Clayton Hotel in Birmingham. I've heard about this place so I ordered through Uber Eats. I have to say I cannot rate their service/atmosphere as again as I said I got the food delivered. But it came on time and the pizza and the mixed donner and tasted amazing. I only got a small pizza but I should've got the big one. The only downfall were the sauces they were not to my liking. They were a little bit too tangy. which took away from the flavour of the food itself. I would definitely come here again though”

“Been for the first time but wont be last, Desi version of High End McDonalds. Prices were very reasonable with quality ingredients. I tried Peri Chicken, Massala Fish on Naan, Saver menu Burger which was surprisingly very nice and Mango Milkshake. Everything i tasted was great. Bonus is this place is open almost 24 hours. Store Manager was fantastic.”

“The chips are all bad from the loaded chips I ordered. Did not enjoy a thing.”

“Just been here and asked how much 2 pieces of chicken and some chips would be. Was told £2.99 for chicken + £3.75 for chips. Was forced to abonden this as I was told "chips are sold separately". I soon discovered there was promotion offering 1x sfc + chips + drink @ £2.99! Completely proving chips and chicken are sold together and cheaper than I was offered. When I asked for a manager I was told by a second member of staff (Aisha) that management had just gone into a "long meeting" at 9pm and no one was available. I asked for management details as to contact them later and I was told I was not getting such information and to leave an online comment was my only option. Whilst attempting to speak aisha the original server (whom also I had to request my full change from might I add) decieded to come over and argue with myself. My order numbers were 1015 and 1018 and were placed just prior to 9pm 16/05/26. To argue "some people like food options ordered as seperare items" is not a defence when I have made it clear i was eating all items together and thus by being offered items at full costs is nothing more than being unfairly ripped off imo. I fell the original server needs training in promotions, how to legally give change back and to not come over and argue with customers when they have been seen to be acting what I would hope is not Big Johns work prCtices toward any customer. If managed would like to discuss this further to myself in person.please reply with a name and I will return at a later date”
