About Han Dynasty Restaurant

Han Dynasty Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant at 59-61 Station St in Birmingham, on the edge of Chinatown and across from the Station Street exit of Birmingham New Street station. It is now known as Yue Xin. The hot pot is served with an individual pot per person and a choice of soup base, which suits diners who want their own pot rather than one shared between the table. Dim sum runs alongside it, with siu mai, king prawn rice roll and chicken feet on the list. A full meal and platter menu and a liquor menu sit next to the dim sum options. The dining room is small, with a limited number of tables. The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays and open the other six days of the week.

Customer Review Summary

Dim sum draws most reviewers, who single out the steamed king prawn dumpling, siu mai, cheung fan and chicken feet as tasty, with the dumpling and the fried Vietnamese rolls named as highlights by one diner. Close behind are the mains: beef ho fun described as full of flavour, a massive portion of chow mein, and a hearty chicken and mushroom rice. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful. A few reviewers describe the hot pot, where each diner gets their own pot and chooses a soup base. The complaints are specific. One reviewer describes being charged for tap water, then handed another table's bill, and then a replacement bill that was still wrong while the server stayed on the phone. Another found the fried noodle too salty, and a hot pot diner noted a limited choice of toppings and vegetables that were not as fresh. One reviewer found the rice roll sauce a little too thick. Another asked for a second pot of light, refreshing jasmine tea and was not charged for it.

“Kinda love this place, food was nice and the price was amazing. Friendly no fuss atmosphere too. And they had puer cha too so that’s a win in my book 💫💜💫”

“Found this restaurant on the edge of Chinatown, it's now known as Yue Xin. Went especially for dim sum for lunch however they have quite a variety of other Chinese foods. Plenty of Chinese clientele here on a Sunday afternoon. Enjoyed different dim sum classics like siu mai, Cheung fan, spare ribs and chicken feet. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful which is quite unusual as I don't usually expect good service in many Chinese restaurants. Tasty food with decent portion sizes, will be returning to try more items off the menus.Food cost around £45 for 3 people including tea.”

“I purposely ordered food I had never eaten before. (except the ones I had attempted to make myself, like the steamed buns. I ordered the rice in lotus leaf, steamed buns with mushroom and chicken, Chicken feet, fish cake and steamed rice. I had sprite. I spent a total of £18.”

“Found this place via a spontaneous Google search and my word…it’s probably the best Chinese that I’ve personally eaten at. My girlfriend and I ordered a variety of Dim Sum and a plate of Beef Ho Fun each and the Dim Sum was the best Dim Sum we have eaten, whilst the Ho Fun was full of flavour and the texture was gorgeous. I would highly recommend a visit to this place!”
