About Maya’s cafe
Maya's cafe is a Birmingham cafe at 855-857 Bristol Rd S, set at the back of Northfield indoor market and trading since 2014. The kitchen cooks full English breakfasts alongside hot dinners, including roast dinners with a carvery, a mixed grill, and sausages with mash, vegetables and onion gravy. Vegan and vegetarian options sit on the menu next to the traditional grill plates. Cakes and an extensive dessert menu cover the sweeter side. A bar operates inside the cafe, which gives the place a use beyond mealtimes, and a second bar stands outside at the back for those who want a drink away from the dining room.

Customer Review Summary
Diners come mainly for big, hearty plates of traditional British food, with fish and chips the most often singled out, one reviewer describing a massive fish fried to a golden crisp. Close behind are the grilled beef platter, a good old fashioned roast, steak baguettes, and sausages with mash and gravy, where the sweet, spiced-tasting parsnips stood out. Reviewers also mention the tasty onion gravy, a salmon plate with poached eggs and fresh salad, and an extensive cake and dessert selection. Several describe the staff as friendly and helpful, and many call the prices reasonable. The mixed grill divides opinion. One reviewer found it far too much meat and disgusting, leaving most of it, while another found the meat good but a little salty and felt the steak was not worth the value. One also found the veg a little soft. A family describes returning after their kids joined a pumpkin carving competition, and one reviewer notes that the kitchen will happily send diners off with a doggy bag when the portions prove too large.

“I visited for first time today and ordered a mixed grill for £10.50. When it came to the table it looked good but far too much meat. On trying pieces from each of the meats I found it all disgusting and so Left most of it. I didn’t bother saying anything but definitely won’t be returning .”

“This establishment is at the back of Northfield market and you wouldn’t even know it was there. Great tasty food at very reasonable prices I would highly recommend this place. Also there is a very wide selection on the menu to cater for everyone. The dessert menu is also extensive if you fancy a treat after your food. Also the staff are very helpful and friendly which adds a nice touch. We hadn’t been for a while and it’s still just as nice as before.Highly recommended”
