About Bailey's Cafe and Sandwich Bar

Breakfast runs all day at Bailey's Cafe and Sandwich Bar, a cafe on Tile Cross Road in Birmingham. The kitchen offers a full English and a smaller "small" English, each served with tea or coffee included, so a single order covers the plate and the drink. Orders are placed at the counter and no booking is taken, which suits people passing through on the way to or from Birmingham Airport and the NEC, or looking for somewhere other than a hotel breakfast to start the day. The entrance is step-free and wheelchair accessible for visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children. Tables outside give the option of eating in the open air. Doors open daily during the daytime.

Customer Review Summary

The cooked breakfast is what draws nearly every reviewer here, most often the full English, called one of the best one traveller had eaten and described by another as fantastically cooked, with eggs over easy and a fry up that is admittedly greasy. Close behind is the value: several who drove up from London or stopped en route to the airport and the NEC say they picked it over a hotel breakfast and were startled by what they paid. Other orders named include the Baileys Big Un, a small English with tea and coffee, and a vegetarian breakfast of toast, hash browns, egg, beans, mushrooms and two vegetarian sausages. One reviewer found the toast slightly overdone, the décor dated and the shop in need of a clean, while others describe it as clean and bright after a change of ownership brought a new kitchen and furnishings. One suggests the small breakfast is plenty for a modest appetite, and families mention the owner handing children treats for finishing their food.

Stopped by Bailey's this morning while passing through for some breakfast, and I'm glad I did. The café is a little dated in terms of décor, but it had a welcoming atmosphere. The gentleman behind the counter, who I believe is the owner, was very friendly and polite, and his customer service made a great first impression. The breakfast menu has a good variety to choose from. I went for the vegetarian breakfast, which included toast, hash browns, egg, beans, mushrooms, two vegetarian sausages, and a cup of tea. The total came to just £4.70, which is excellent value for money. Considering Greggs is only a few doors away and charges a similar price for just a pasty and a tea, Bailey's offers much better value. The food was enjoyable overall. My only constructive criticism would be that the toast was slightly overdone, and the shop could have been a little cleaner. Aside from those minor points, I had a pleasant experience with friendly service, good food, and value.

This is a hidden gem. In an unexpected place lays this fantastic establishment. Me and my girlfriend came today and got a small english and a full english and orange juice for £12 with tea and coffee with the breakfast. Our hotel would have charged us £15 EACH! Rather than throwing your money away at your hotel breakfast, support this local establishment and have breakfast here. I guarantee it tastes much better and is much easier on the bank. On top, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, especially the man (who i assume to be the owner, i hadn't caught his name) who took our order. Bottom line, if you want a cheap but hearty breakfast, come here. They also seem to serve breakfast all day (during open hours of course) P.s. My eyes were bigger than my belly and I wish I got a small breakfast not the full 😩 the small is plenty for those like me with a small appetite.

Came up from London to Birmingham to drop my mother & mother in law for an early morning flight. Got peckish after the long drive up and decided to google search for a cafe breakfast - and Baileys was first recommendation. I was stunned by the affordable pricing of everything - and even more amazed how good to food was. Got speaking to the owner just before leaving who said he’s been in the food industry all his life. All meats are bought locallly from villages and gives support to the community. 10/10 breakfast. Can’t recommend this place more!

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
