About Sheldon Cafe
Breakfast runs right through the day's trade at Sheldon Cafe, a cafe and breakfast restaurant on Coventry Road in Birmingham. The kitchen cooks on the griddle in the greasy spoon style, turning out fry-ups with bacon, eggs and toast alongside baps, sandwiches and boxed salads, plus cooked plates of sausage, chips and beans. Tea and cappuccino-style coffee come from the counter. Custom is walk-in rather than booked, and the room fills at peak times. The entrance is step-free for visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children. Seating outside gives the option of eating in the open air, while orders placed through Uber Eats are packed at the shop for the driver to collect, for anyone eating off site. Trade runs Monday to Saturday in the daytime, with Sundays closed.

Customer Review Summary
Opinion splits on the food itself. Critics describe bacon that was pure fat, toast full of grease, mushrooms that looked and tasted poor, and eggs that were greasy, with everything deep fried. One calls it a proper greasy spoon, and another says it is not clean inside anymore. Service draws complaints too: one reviewer describes rude staff who ignored a waiting delivery driver, and another reports feeling unwelcome as a black customer. A diabetic customer says another person's sandwich was packed into their delivery order, so they went without food.

“Not friendly to black people. So unwelcoming. Especially the slim lady that wears glasses, she was so unpleasant.”

“Ordered food via uber eats and put someone else sandwich in the bag which I won’t eat. So being diabetic missed out on food. This was entirely the shops fault and not uber eats as it’s packed in the shop.”

“Ok but basic. Very standard breakfast and baps etc. the mushrooms didn’t look or taste the best. Was quite Smokey in there. But people must like it as it was quite busy. The coffee ; cappuccino tastes nice and frothy.”
