  “Best takeaway around. Paul the beautiful counter servant is just a pleasure every time we go in - he's definitely my favourite (everyone likes an underdog) All the staff are wonderful & helpful - especially the gorgeous Michael and his luxurious cake selection. the food is amazing and the size of the portions are better than anywhere else. I highly recommend this place 🙌”

One of the standout practical touches is the menu — it’s large, clear, and easy to read, which makes ordering straightforward and stress-free. The staff are polite, attentive, and always seem to be on the move. While they’re clearly busy, they still manage to maintain a friendly and professional manner, which adds positively to the overall experience. In terms of value, it’s hard to fault. The pricing is genuinely impressive for what you receive — around £9 for a main dish with a side such as chips or rice is excellent, especially when compared to places in Reading where you’d likely pay noticeably more for a similar offering. Portion sizes are generous, and you certainly don’t leave feeling short-changed. However, the main downside is the food itself. While it’s perfectly edible and not unpleasant by any means, it does come across as fairly mediocre. The dishes lack that extra quality, flavour, or attention to detail that would make them memorable or worth going out of your way for. It feels more functional than exciting — good enough to satisfy hunger, but not something you’d rave about. Overall, this is a place that excels in value, cleanliness, and service, but falls short when it comes to delivering standout food. That said, considering the price point, you largely get what you pay for. If you’re looking for an affordable, no-frills meal, it does the job well — just don’t expect anything exceptional on the plate.”

  “Don’t usually get delivery but the fish and chips we had last night were second to none. This is our go to chippy and has been for years - the fish in particular is fantastic - service is great too - well done guys!”

  “We've been going here for years and to see it only has a 4.3 ⭐ rating is criminal. Food is spot on every single time. The crispy chilli beef is the best about. People that run the shop and that work there are spot on too. 5 ⭐ all the way.”

  “Visited recently and tried to pay with a £5 note I had just received as change from another shop. The note had a small piece missing but was still legal tender. Unfortunately, the staff refused to accept it. Disappointing experience, as I had to leave without what I wanted. I hope they can be more flexible or better informed about Bank of England guidelines in the future”

  “Dropping a star, only because you can only pay cash. It's a good chippy. Only my first visit so not easy to give the best opinion on all the food. We had fish and chips (haddock only). It was cooked great, not greasy. I would visit again. There Menu is available online.”

  “Tried here a couple of times but tonight was worse by far, chicken fried rice tasted slightly burnt & no flavour, chips burnt warm ups between rotten chips so hole portion basically inedible, bbq cold and not very nice and to finishing prawn crackers stale , won't be going again and staff not very friendly either”
