About Horse and Jockey
Horse and Jockey is an independent pub in Bilston, found at 64 Robert Wynd, that pairs real ale with home-cooked food. The kitchen prepares its meals fresh, and cobs are served from the bar alongside the main dishes. The drink menu lists cask ales, and the bar also pours Guinness and mixes cocktails. That makes it a place to pair a pint of real ale with either a cob or a full home-cooked meal.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often return for home cooked food in huge portions, with the chicken burger described as massive and filling and the cobs from the bar singled out by one couple. Close behind is the friendly, welcoming staff, and one reviewer notes a large group was all served at the same time. Drinks draw their own praise: cocktails that were not watered down, a good Guinness, and real and cask ales. Several reviewers call the prices reasonable, and a few advise booking because the pub gets busy and the car park can be full. The one detailed complaint comes from a local couple who asked for an outside table but were seated inside, were told no tab was allowed outside while regulars at another table had one, and received a medium steak cooked well done. They felt standards had slipped since earlier visits with friends. Others point to the steady stream of returning locals eating there.

“ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING TO LOCAL RESIDENTS THAT AREN'T REGULAR TO THE PUB !!!! DOUBLE STANDARDS!!!! My Husband booked a meal for us to end our annual leave on a high before going back to work. IT WAS A ABSOLUTELY LOW AND DISGUSTING THE WAY MY HUSBAND WAS TREAT. My Husband asked the person on the phone when booking a table for us the night before if we can sit outside due to the weather was nice that day. They reserved a table for us inside not outside like we asked. We was told that it's not table serviced outside. BUT TO FOUR LOTS OF BENCHES WAS RESERVED FOR SOMEBODY AT 7PM We needed to get our menus ourselves but menus was outside on the table. THIS IS THE DISGUSTING PART. My husband was told he couldn't have a tab outside and need to pay upfront for food and drink when he ordered at the bar. But a table across from us. HAD A TAB. My husband questioned it with the management because THEY ARE REGULAR TO THE PUB. THE MANAGEMENT WAS VERY PALLY WITH THEM. IT MADE US FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE AND COULDN'T ENJOY OURSELVES. WE DIDN'T STOP FOR DESSERT. MY HUSBAND ASKED FOR A MEDIUM STEAK GOT WELL DONE. THE FOOD WASN'T WORTH THE FOOD. SHOULD HAVE STOP AT HOME AND ORDER A TAKEAWAY NOBODY COULD SPEAK TO US OUTSIDE OR HAS WE LEFT. IT'S COMPLETELY PUT ME OFF GOING AGAIN. SPECIALLY FOR MY PARENTS 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY !!!!! ALSO THE STANDARDS HAVE DROPPED WHEN I HAVE BEEN BEFORE WITH FRIENDS.”

“Really nice pub, where the menu is varied, the food good, service friendly and the surroundings well maintained. Took a large group and we were all served at the same time. Everyone was impressed with their food. Will definitely be going again.”

“Tonight, I was served by a very courteous and professional young lady named Sophia. She was friendly, attentive, and prompt in her service. Her excellent level of customer care reflects well on your team. I will certainly be returning and kindly ask that you extend my thanks to her and the team. She is a genuine credit to your establishment. Thank you once again, and I look forward to visiting again soon.”

“Great pub with nice food and very large portion size. Great value for drinks and food. Booked a table as it was Saturday afternoon which I’d recommended on a weekend as it gets busy. Car park can often be full so just parked in a side street nearby. Will be going again and would recommend.”
