Quick info
About Tabure Berkhamsted
Tabure Berkhamsted is a Mediterranean restaurant at 157-159 High St in Berkhamsted, with Aegean and Asian flavours running through the menu. The kitchen builds the menu around sharing plates, and dishes arrive when they are ready rather than in separate starter and main courses. Tire kofte and the King Prawn Tava sit among the small plates, and baklava is on the dessert list. The menu marks dishes that are garlic-free, so guests avoiding garlic can order from it with more confidence. The team talks through specials and menu changes at the table. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
The recurring complaint is the sharing format. Two reviewers say the dishes are not designed for sharing and the portions are too small to split, and one was told there was no guarantee dishes would arrive together. A returning diner found little Turkish food beyond a handful of starters and the dishes mediocre for the prices. Others note weak pisco sours, chicken wings that were not crispy, and different staff asking the same question. One diner was politely asked to make way for the next booking.

“Food and service was good, weird that food comes out when ready not as starter and main. Not sure I liked it and also the concept of sharing, if I liked something, I ordered it for me, not for anyone else. Portion sizes dont allow to share, I ended up with a tiny bit after sharing - not for me thanks”

“We had a brilliant experience at Tabure in Berkhamsted. Every dish we had was exceptional. We highly recommend the King Prawn Tava, sautéed mushrooms and whipped truffle and the chargrilled organic chicken thighs. Service was a little bit confusing. We sometimes had different people coming to ask us the same question, but other than that it was great. We lost of track of time and were politely asked to make way for the next booking. We will definitely be coming back here”

“I last visited Tabure around 7–8 years ago, and I remembered it as a restaurant serving excellent food with a wide selection of Turkish dishes. Based on that experience, I recommended it to friends for dinner this evening. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. Apart from a handful of starters, there was very little Turkish food on the menu. The dishes we ended up ordering were mediocre at best, considering the prices. The service was equally odd. We were encouraged to share dishes because otherwise we were told there was no guarantee our food would arrive at the same time. The problem was that the dishes themselves weren’t designed for sharing, making the suggestion impractical. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. The restaurant no longer lives up to the impression it left on me years ago. I won’t be returning or recommending it to others again.”

“I had such a lovely meal last night with friends. The service and food were impeccable and they had pre prepared a menu highlighting dishes without garlic or dishes that could be amended to be without garlic because of an allergy. I can’t praise them enough.”

“Absolutely perfect... I can't recommend this place enough if you wanna eat very delicious Turkish meals. You will enjoy your time at a this very cool, beautifully designed and relaxing venue. Tire kofte is the best kofte meatballs we have ever eaten in the UK. And Tabure's baklava desert is definitely something out of this world... Normally I prefer baklava with pistachio, but their walnut version is almost better than my mums home-made baklava. ( Sorry mum 🤣) Looking forward to our next visit. ---- Visited again in April 2026 during Easter holiday. And again enjoyed every bits of all plates. Tried two new additions to the menu. Vine Leave Dolmades and Yaglama... Both of them are worth to try very pleased... Deserts were okeyish but should be better for such a place. Staff was amazing too as always. Thanks for having us 🙏”
