About Beijing House
Beijing House is a Chinese takeaway in Basingstoke, based at 3 Anstey Cl. Orders are taken by phone only, and the business is not listed on the usual delivery sites, so each order goes directly to the kitchen rather than through an app. The menu includes chicken chow mein, salt and pepper chicken and grilled dumplings. Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise takeaway food that arrives hot and fresh and isn't greasy, with the chicken chow mein, deep fried king prawns, honey and chilli chicken and salt and pepper chicken singled out, and the grilled dumplings called always delicious. Satay chicken skewers and cheese and prawn rolls also get approval, and several describe friendly staff and generous portions. Close behind, a few like that the business delivers off the usual apps, though one regular is frustrated that it won't deliver to a village address a short drive away. The chips draw the clearest complaints: salt and pepper chips were described as dry, stale and reheated, and another reviewer found the chips dry and overcooked. Others found the lemon chicken looked microwaved, the crispy chilli beef tasted only of batter, and a sauce was missing from the bag. One reviewer reports food poisoning after the chicken with ginger and spring onion and says a promised callback about compensation never came. One collection order came with free prawn crackers.

“Lemon chicken looks like it just came out of a microwave, and I had to go back to get a sauce as they hadn’t put it in the bag.”

“Came here half an hour before closing time and ordered the Salt and pepper chips - probably one of the worst things I’ve eaten from a takeaway in all my 32 years. Chips were clearly cooked ages ago and reheated. Sadly they were dry, stale and completely inedible (and i’l eat anything tbf). Really disappointing as I had been told by friends that these S&P chips were supposed to be great! Maybe it was because we ordered just before closing time? Needless to say, I Went straight to McDonald’s after having realised they were trash! Service was great though.”

“Got food poisoning from their chicken, with ginger and spring onion dish. The next 2 days were written off because of illness. I called up explaining the situation and was politely asking for compensation and they told me they would call me back and I got no response. I used to order once a week, but it’s fine I’ll look elsewhere.”

“We are just enjoying a lovely takeout from Bejing house! The food is delicious and the service really good too, even the delivery drive was so kind and polite! I called the venue back to extend our thanks and they were very gracious about that too. Keep going Bejing house and don’t drop your high standards of service and delicious meals!!”
