Customer Review Summary
Calamari is the dish reviewers name most, from a lightly battered starter with lemon and tartare sauce to a grilled version one diner calls to die for. Seafood follows close behind, including pan fried sea bass with small clams and a fresh, well cooked catch of the day. Others single out the tomahawk, T-bone steak, lamb cooked perfectly, fried zucchini and a light pear ricotta dessert, with generous portions that suit a big appetite. Staff are described as friendly, attentive and professional, and diners credit the manager and head chef for a welcoming visit. The recurring trade-off is cost. Three reviewers say it runs higher than an average Italian restaurant, and one notes the fine reds extend to high prices, though they judge the ingredients and service to justify it. One diner found a device very slow at dinner, and another found the fennel firmer than ideal. One reviewer suggests booking in good time for weekends. One table was given tiramisu on the house, presented with a typical Italian coffee maker.

“The complimentary olives and bread with olive oil were a nice surprise. I dined from the two course set menu on a Wednesday lunchtime. The restaurant was quiet, and pleasantly cool (on a very hot day) with unobtrusive background music playing. Service was excellent. The starter of calamari with lemon and tartare sauce was beautifully presented, only lightly battered, and absolutely delicious. With that, I had a glass of the Falanghina "Guerrriero" - Il Poggio white wine, which was just as the menu described: 'citrus, honey and almond'. It would make an excellent aperitif. The main course of Branzino Con Vongole Veraci i.e. pan fried sea bass with small clams and seasonal vegetables was excellent. Again, the presentation was exquisite. The seabass and the clams were cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicate. The vegetables included baby carrot, fennel, and stem broccoli. The fennel was slightly firmer than my ideal, but I like like my veg lightly cooked. With the main, I had a glass of the rose Bardolino Chiaretto - Cavalchina (I had never tried pink Bardolino before), and the notes of cherry and cranberry complimented the dish well. Out of curiosity, I glanced at the fine reds section of the wine list and noted that it extended to some high prices. Alongside the excellent seafood dishes, meat, salad and a few vegetarian options are available. Recommended!”

“We had a fantastic experience! The food was absolutely delicious, the starters were full of flavour, the drinks were refreshing, and the desserts were the perfect way to finish the meal. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The customer service was exceptional, and a special thank you to the manager, Jordan, who was so welcoming, attentive, and made sure we had a wonderful experience from start to finish. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“This was our first visit to L’Arte in Cockfosters. We’d previously been to their restaurant in Winchmore Hill which was equally excellent. The staff are professional, friendly and attentive. The menu is pretty extensive and the food is excellent. We both had seafood dishes which were perfectly cooked… the grilled calamari is to die for!! Although the prices are perhaps a little higher than your average Italian restaurant these two restaurants are very much above average. This is reflected in the quality of their ingredients and the top level of service so absolutely worth it in my opinion. Unsurprisingly they get pretty busy at weekends so it’s worth booking in good time. 5 stars all round from me and I highly recommend. Many Thanks.”
