  “Bought fish and chips worth £34 this evening. Very disappointed and never going back. The chips was soggy and full of oil. Had to put in the oven to make it edible. The fish , well I don't want to explain, the pictures explain everything. Awful experience.”

  “The salt and vinegar is the most welcoming venue in Aylesbury. I am always treated so well by the owner and employees, they always have a smile on their face! The drink selection is great, service unbeatable and the food accommodates everyone. Nothing but high quality ingredients, made with love! Would recommend to all family’s, groups and individuals!”

  “Salt & vinegar is without a doubt all round five stars from the food friendly staff who always go the extra mile well priced on drinks.The locals are really nice people very chilled atmosphere they also have the dd app what you can use for food an drinks definitely worth checking out whether it's for a few drinks some lunch dinner or even ice cream. Guaranteed to have a lovely experience at the salt & vinegar highly recommend to anyone who hasn't been go get yourselves down there an check it out!”

  “Unfortunately the service here is just far too slow. If you’re told your meal will be 10 mins, expect it to take 30. I understand they make everything upon ordering, for it to taste ‘fresh’, but in all honesty, I really don’t get that from the food. It doesn’t taste any different from any other local chip shop that you can go in, order, and be out with your food all within 5 minutes. Maybe if the food quality matched the time taken, I wouldn’t mind, but it’s just not there. We are really lucky to have it in Fairford Leys, hence 3 stars- but I would love to see changes made so that wait times aren’t so incredibly long.”

  “the owner wat a cool guy .he gave me 3 x large chips as i said my son was having a party next door at community centre, he said they were on the house . chips were great the kids and the adults finished them i didn't evan have 1 . again big thank u from my family and friends. so get yourself down there best chips in Aylesbury.”

  “I ordered a takeaway from Salt and Vinegar in January 2026 through Just Eat. Arrived safely, upon unpacking the bag one portion of food was missing. It was clearly listed on the receipt stapled to the bag but had obviously not been checked by the staff. I called the shop up. I spoke to a lady who appeared to be in charge. She said I could drive to the shop and she would give me the food missing from the order. This was really annoying and inconvenient but I went to pick it up as I had children waiting for it. Fast forward to 20th May 2026. Been a busy day so decided to try the shop again. Order arrived. Receipt stapled to bag. WRONG ORDER AGAIN. I had ordered cod not battered, due to my daughters dietary restrictions. I had been sent battered cod. I phoned the shop up again. Got through to a stropy girl who wasn’t interested and it wasn’t her problem. I asked her who packed the food. She reluctantly said she did. I asked why she didn’t check the order was correct before packing it. She then said there was only one piece of fish there. So it was the chefs fault. She had a really bad attitude. I asked to speak to the manager. Then to my surprise and my daughters suprise as it was on speaker, we both heard her shouting hysterically that there was a lady on the phone shouting at her. This was completely untrue but the manager, male, accused me of upsetting his staff. I said that’s not the case, he made some reference to listening to the call, I said good, as you will clearly see I’m telling the truth. He then spoke to me in a more polite way, told me if I came to the shop he’d cook me another piece of cod. I said the whole point of ordering a takeaway to be delivered is because I don’t want to go out. I asked for a refund. He told me to go through JustEat. To cut a long story short. Just Eat have repeatedly refused to refund me the money. £8.99. So I am out of pocket. I’ve used this restaurant twice now in a five month period. Each time there has been a problem. Checking the reviews there are a lot of one star reviews all experiencing a similar issue. The management need to address these concerns starting with teaching customer service skills to the employees.”

  “I’ve been coming here for a while now and it never disappoints. The food is consistently excellent, everything is always cooked perfectly. What really stands out as well is the staff. They’re always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help, which makes the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable every time. It’s rare to find a place that nails both the food and the service so consistently, but this one definitely does. It’s become one of my go-to spots.”

  “The fish and chips were absolutely delicious..perfectly crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. What made the experience even better was the amazing service; the staff were so warm, friendly, and attentive. One of the best dining experiences we’ve had. Highly recommended!”

  “Tried the new Mixed kebab and fried chicken that had been added to the menu and was very impressed. Doner was better than most of the shops in town and the fried chicken was to die for! Well worth a visit to eat in and also enjoy great service in their eat in dining area and well stocked bar! Recommended! A*”

  “Highly recommended by locals, although I consider myself an ex local, cautiously leaving a review in case I get the pitchfork treatment! Have had a takeaway a while ago midweek and service was slow so interested to see what this would be like. The owner has put significant effort into diversifying outside of just being a fish and chip shop, by offering outside eating, cocktails, breakfasts. I was curious to see what it was like. We saw a waitress and asked about a table. Was told just to sit. I took 2 menus off her, she had a pile of 6, she asked if I could take one only and share as that’s all they had. Some what surprised and wondering if this was a theme? We decide on our meals and waited for service. Another server bought food out to the table next to ours so called our to ask if we could order. Either she didn’t hear me or was already busy, as the lady behind us said it does get busy and to order inside which we did. Food took a while. We were late for the cinema. Saving grace was that food was ok. Nothing special. We had 2 small cocktails, children’s portion of cod bits and fish cake with chips, beans, curry sauce and roll. Food arrived piecemeal with delays between each course arriving which made our meal take longer. Asked to pay straight away so we could get it. It was a Friday and it was busy. Would I return? Maybe. Is there potential? Definitely! Just sort out the lack of menus, slow service, small drink portions. Bill came to £31. It’s not a restaurant, more of a cafe.”
