About Chalkhill Blue
Chalkhill Blue sits on Hawker Siddeley Way in Andover as a British pub that also runs as a casual restaurant, with a free car park outside the building for visitors arriving by car. The interior is a large open room that opens onto a sizeable outside seating area, and the kitchen covers a familiar pub-food range from a trio roast on Sundays and chicken schnitzel with chips to a top burger and hunters chicken, finishing on a caramel dessert. The bar serves the standard pub offer alongside the food, and the format is walk-in throughout the day. When the kitchen is busy, walk-in customers can be turned away, so arriving early is the simplest route in. Booking is taken for larger groups and events, and the team handles those requests directly.

“Greeted by an unpleasant woman who didn’t smile or make us feel welcome. Our table was very shabby and the chairs uncomfortable and absolutely filthy. One of us actually found chewing gum underneath! Once we had time to look at the menu, another waitress came to take the order and then informed us that certain things were unavailable including basics such as: Mushrooms for the starter Mash potatoes! Sticky toffee pudding Custard!!! We all had the trio roast which was supposed to include crackling for the pork but oh wait, they’d ran out of that as well! It was Sunday. You’re advertising Sunday roast dinner!!! Tell us what is not available BEFORE you give us the menu not after we order!! Poor show to run out of basics. I mean, custard. Seriously! Had the chef gone home!!!! Would not recommend and will definitely not be returning!!”

“It was busy but didn’t have to wait to long for food nor drinks. Amazing staff”

“A great place to get a lunch or supper. They have a great menu with loads of options. I went with the top burger and my kids had the hunters chicken. I must confess I had order envy when I saw their meal. It all tastes delicious. To end it off we had the caramel dessert which was amazing. Great free car park outside. Really big inside with a large outside seating area as well.”

“Disappointing experience from start to finish. We booked a table for 6:45pm and waited over an hour just for our starters. After we finished those, it was another 45–50 minutes for our mains to arrive — incredibly long waits throughout the whole meal. When the mains finally came, one person in our group had their order correct but with key items from the menu description missing from the plate. We mentioned this, but nothing was offered or done about it at all — no apology, no replacement, no refund, nothing. To make it worse, while my wife was still eating her main course, staff started bringing out our desserts and then took her main away before she’d finished, leaving her with her dessert while she was still halfway through her meal. It felt rushed, disrespectful and totally unprofessional. We understand restaurants can get busy, but the waiting times were far too long, issues with the food were ignored, and clearing plates while someone is still eating is just not acceptable. Really poor service and attention to detail — won’t be returning.”

“We two were turned away saying they weren’t accepting any walk-in because the kitchen was busy despite many empty tables. They didn’t have any notice either. We should only turn up when kitchen is not busy? Is that it? Or was it too much?? In any case now PLEASE STOP SENDING THE FLYERS OF YOURS THROUGH OUR LETTER BOX. Thank you.”
