Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is the draw for nearly every reviewer, with the roast described as traditional home cooked food, the way an old mum made it. Portions come small, medium or large, and those who ordered medium call them generous and good value. The lamb is singled out as melting in the mouth. Several praise the range of vegetables, about ten different ones, as almost as good as the meat, and plenty of gravy gets a mention too. Puddings and a vast dessert choice also earn praise. Close behind is the welcome, with reviewers repeatedly describing friendly staff, a friendly owner, and the feeling of walking into a family member's home. One calls the pub refreshingly not a gastropub, and another says the old fashioned food is part of its charm. A good beer selection and a well kept mild are noted as well. Reviewers who pre-booked describe food ready on arrival, and one diner's dog was served fresh water and dog treats.

“A very welcoming local pub with a very pleasant atmosphere, I should call in here more often as it's only a 5min drive from home or a 20min walk over the countryside from Huthwaite... If you're traveling from further afield It's only a 10min drive East from Junction 28 on the M1 motorway ... The staff are very friendly, with a good selection of beers on offer... there's also food available... Call in if you're in the area, it's well worth a visit... Closed Monday and Tuesday and open Wednesday until Saturday from 4pm and from 12o'clock on Sunday's... Enjoy!!”
