Customer Review Summary
Soup with a toastie or panini comes up most, alongside a pulled pork and cheese ciabatta deal and a beef olives lunch special. One long-time regular calls the macaroni cheese the cheesiest and smoothest they know, and others praise the cakes and scones. Staff are described as nice, friendly and polite, and the cafe is called dog friendly by several, though one reviewer finds that odd given its hygiene focus. Vegetarian options are called limited, and a cooked breakfast was judged ok, neither the best nor the worst. The sharpest complaints are mixed. One diner found a cheese and ham toastie overpriced, served with a little lettuce, coleslaw and about three crisps on cheap bread. Another reports a server, in a hostile tone, telling them to leave because they had paid for a takeaway coffee and not a seat. By contrast, one reviewer notes that allergies were among the first questions staff asked.

“Ordered a takeaway coffee and sat at a table while we waited and discussed possibly ordering food. We had to ask for a spoon which is no problem, after we had stirred in sugar a server came past and asked us, in quite a hostile tone, if there was anything else that they could do for us or if we were leaving. Being quite taken aback, we said we are just getting sorted, to which she responded that we needed to leave because we paid for a takeaway and not a seat and immediately walked away. We left and another customer who heard the interaction, left his food and walked out with us and told us that if he was us he'd never return. Despite wanting to have breakfast there tomorrow, we won't be back for another round with the annoyed server who seems intent on having it out with customers and servers alike. Edit to respond - I suggest you post a link to the footage from the time we entered until the time the other customer left behind us and we will see who owes who an apology. Based on other reviews this seems to be normal behavior for this server and a normal response from a business owner who cannot manage their staff member's outbursts. Edit to add again - post a link to the footage. Bonus points if you add audio. PS the other customer that left behind us lives and works locally, if you would like to get him involved”

“One of my daughters suggested we meet here for lunch with her sisters, because she likes it here. I was less than impressed. In fact, I was disappointed. The food was mediocre at best and over priced. Just under £10 for a cheese & ham toasty, which consisted of a bit of side salad (lettuce), bit of coleslaw and about 3 crisps on cheap bread. I understand businesses have costs, but if you're going to charge £10 for a £1 plate, please try a harder.”

“This is a hidden gem in Mannofield. I have been coming here since it first opened and I must admit to never having been disappointed in the quality of the food served here. A great favourite of my friend and myself is the macaroni cheese. Our number one establishment for macaroni cheese, for us, nothing beats Thyme Out for the cheesiest, smoothest, sauciest macaroni. Positively splendid. All other meals, cakes and scones are also to be highly recommended.”
