About Chaiiwala
Chaiiwala is a cafe in Aberdeen, at 229 Union St, serving Indian breakfast, also called Desi breakfast, all day. The plate brings together daal, parathas and an omelette, and it comes with karak chai for those who want a full morning meal at any hour. Beyond breakfast, the kitchen works in street food with a western twist, taking traditional flavours and reworking them for contemporary tastes. Karak coffee and masala chai sit on the drinks menu next to the karak chai. The team explains the menu, the ingredients and any current deals to guests who are new to the dishes. Pictures of India hang on the walls, and the decor follows an Indian theme throughout.

“Nice setting with India pictures on the wall, great staff. The food was absolutely outstanding and very very good value for money. Every mouthful was an explosion of flavour, enough heat (chilli) but not overpowering. The chai was superb reminiscent of Mumbai. Cannot wait to visit again. A real flavour of authentic India.”

“Today my friends and I came to this café for a late breakfast and we were truly impressed. The atmosphere is warm, cosy, and very clean. The service was excellent, and the dishes were beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. We really enjoyed both the atmosphere and the quality of the food. Highly recommended! It is quite rare to find a place like this in Aberdeen.”

“An absolute bargain and genuinely authentic! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Chaiiwala Aberdeen's All Day Breakfast is a massive win, and the buy one get one half price deal is fantastic value. We had the tasty daal with parathas and omelette. The karak coffee was lovely, as was the karak chhai. A special shoutout to the lady at the front of house—she is so helpful and explains all the options clearly. It’s also great to see the customer base is majorly Indian, which is the ultimate sign of authenticity, though absolutely everyone is made to feel very welcome. Generous portions and brilliant service!”

“Absolutely amazing place. The food was so flavourful and fresh, the fries were exactly how I like them, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The drink was something that will definitely make me come back for more. The service was quick. The place itself is very cozy.”

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often come for the desi breakfast and the chai, with the karak chai described as rich and full of flavour and the masala chai as strong and aromatic, like street chai in Mumbai. The breakfast plate of daal with parathas and a well-cooked omelette draws repeated praise, and a buy one get one half price breakfast deal is called fantastic value. Close behind are the fries, crunchy outside and soft inside, and snacks such as the Bombay twister wrap, aloo tikki and vada pav burgers. Reviewers call the food flavourful, with enough chilli heat without being overpowering. The one complaint is small: a diner found it silly to be charged extra for chilli on the omelette. Service is described as friendly and quick, and the pictures on the walls give a nice setting. Several reviewers say the staff explained the deals, ingredients and menu options clearly, which helped first-time visitors choose their order.
