About Brig O'Don
Brig O'Don is a pub in Aberdeen, at 739 King St, built around a chargrilled menu and an external play area that gives families space outside the dining room. Ordering and payment run through an app, and guests choose their own table. The menu runs from a steak sandwich at midweek lunch to a burger, with a gourmet ribeye at the weekend and a Sunday roast also on offer. Dogs are welcome inside, so walkers can bring their own company. The pub also accepts coaches, which makes it workable for groups arriving together.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly, attentive servers come up most, with several reviewers saying they made a visit more enjoyable and kept them lingering over dessert, hot drinks and a board game. Steak is the dish praised most, described by one regular as better than some high end restaurants. Close behind are a Sunday roast, macaroni cheese, chicken fajitas, a burger, and a starter sharing plate of southern fried strips, boneless chicken wings and calamari, followed by sticky toffee pudding. Reviewers also mention a relaxed atmosphere, a covered patio and a warm welcome for dogs. The criticisms are specific. One long-time customer found the new lunch menu limited to ciabattas, the Balmoral Chicken smaller with less sauce, no table service for drinks, and staff holding a loud discussion beside a church group during a talk. Another found the squid chewy and the salmon too crispy to chew easily. A third disliked having to install an app to order and pay. One couple say staff still put their two steaks through after last call.

“Good food and good service. Enough space to sit down, you pick your own table and the waiters do not interact much with you. Everything must be done through their app. We did not quite like this... to have to install an app just to order and pay, and the registration process in the app seems unnecessary. But after this minor detail, everything was good.”

“I have been a semi-regular since the Brig O'Don opened and seen its various incarnations as owners come and go, but I have been disappointed by the latest changes made by Belhaven. Gone some time ago was the pensioners menu, but at least the lunch menu gave decent choices at a fair price, but the new lunch menu is limited to chiabatas which are difficult for pensioners to chew. The main menu appears to be more expensive and yesterday, with a group of friends who were mainly pensioners, we ordered in advance and were a) disappointed by the lack of service, and b) by the quality of the food. My Balmoral Chicken was half the size it used to be, and lacked the lashings of sauce it used to have. Overall, very disappointed. When we have organised lunches here in the past, we have had table service for drinks and coffee. Not this time, so I'm afraid you missed out on a drinks order and coffees at the end. The staff were offhand, but as there seemed to be only three of them on, then I'll let them off, but there was no awareness of their customers. We were a church group and we were meeting our new Priest who was addressing us after the meal with your three staff members deciding to have a loud discussion right beside our table just as he was talking to us. I very much doubt whether we will return with the pensioners from close by feeling that they have been priced out. By the way, no drinks were offered to the two people who had ordered from your lunch menu. Overall, a poor show.”

“We had a fantastic time at Brig o' Don, thanks in no small part to Lexi! Her friendly, welcoming personality made the whole experience so enjoyable that we ended up staying much longer than we'd planned. She was attentive, cheerful, and made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely ace too – fresh, delicious, and really hit the spot. Lexi is a real credit to the hospitality industry, and her excellent service made our visit one to remember. Great service, great food, and a brilliant atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!”

“Popped in for a light evening dinner. Nice atmosphere, quiet when we were there, and dogs welcome if you have one 👍 My daughter and myself shared the 3 for £15 starters. (Southern fried strips, boneless chicken wings & calamari. Completed with triple scoop ice cream and sticky toffee pudding with custard. Everything seemed fresh, piping hot and delicious. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Defo adding to our eat out list when visiting the area. Thanks”

“Been visiting Brig of don frequently with my husband and we are never disappointed. The food is great and affordable. We usually go for steak and it’s better than some of the high end restaurants. We had a great experience tonight as we have been to another restaurant and the food was so awful we send it back and came straight here instead. Even tho it was after the last call the lovely staff still put our two steaks through. Shout out to the chefs and the lovely servers Lexi and Esme, the meal was fabulous and We will be back again!”
