Quick info
About Guard and Grace
Guard and Grace is a steak house in Houston, at 500 Dallas St Ste 100, built around a menu that spans 48 items across a wide mains range. Much of its format comes from balancing classic steak house offerings with a raw bar and shareable starters, so the menu works for both full dinners and lighter plates. The raw bar is reflected in Oysters, Daily Catch, while the starter list leans into seafood and vegetable options such as Hamachi Crudo and Crispy Brussels Sprouts. Service and visits are structured around appointments, giving the meal a more planned, sit-down cadence rather than a casual drop-in. The menu’s breadth and the mix of raw, grilled, and vegetable-forward items shape how the steak house positions itself within the Houston dining landscape.

Customer Review Summary
Guard and Grace draws consistent praise for its downtown elegance and sophisticated atmosphere, with multiple reviewers highlighting the cozy, festive ambiance and beautiful holiday decor. The food earns high marks across the board, with diners singling out the crispy tuna rice, the filet flight with Wagyu, the Caesar salad, and the cookies as standout dishes. Service is repeatedly described as attentive and warm, with several guests noting that managers and servers checked in frequently to ensure a smooth experience, even for large groups. A few reviewers note isolated issues, including a cold half chicken and a bartender who came across as curt at the end of a meal, though these moments did not overshadow the overall positive reception.

“Came here with my family on Mother’s Day! Our waiter was so great, very pleasant and good with details on the food and answered every question we had! Amazing. What kind of ruined the mood at the end was the bartender; he was nice but kinda of had a mood or whatnot towards the end once leaving. He could’ve been nicer and better attitude when asked a simple question as a customer spending quite a lot of money, everything would’ve been understood if spoken in better mannerism. Other than thank you for the experience.”

“PHENOMENAL!!! Celebrated my birthday here with my husband; only regret is we wished we came sooner! Food far exceeded expectations, service was amazing. Every single manager must have touched our table and made sure everything was okay. My husband and I are creatures of habit and rarely try something new. This was Michelin recommended and they didn’t disappoint. New favorite place unlocked!!!!”

“Wonderful night of dining here at Guard and Grace. We went for a team dinner and shared pretty much every appetizer they have in the menu and I was impressed by everything! However, the crispy tuna rice was my favorite. The drinks are superb, and we had fabulous service despite there being like fifteen of us. Truly a wonderful dinner experience!”

“I recently photographed a wedding reception at Guard and Grace, and it was the epitome of downtown elegance. The space is sophisticated and elevated, but they managed to make it feel incredibly cozy for a winter celebration. The aesthetic was spot on, bright white linens, moody lighting, and beautiful Christmas trees in the corners that added such a festive, classy touch. The staff was wonderful to work with from a vendor perspective, and the 'elegant bar vibe' during the cocktail hour was perfect. The drinks were not only delicious but beautifully presented. If you want a reception venue that feels modern, chic, and high-end in the heart of Houston, Guard and Grace is an absolute 10/10!”
