About Lucio's

Lucio's is a New American restaurant in Houston, at 905 Taft St, operating as a bright bistro-style spot with an open kitchen. Much of its identity comes from the range of its menu, which spans seafood and steak house offerings alongside a wine club. The Hanger Steak anchors the steak side of the menu, and the Sesame Crusted Yellow Fin Tuna reflects the seafood focus, with Wine listed as a popular element of the lineup. Mains cover a broad price span, signaling both everyday and more occasion-driven dining within the same room. The open kitchen shapes the format, letting guests watch the preparation of dishes in a bistro-like setting. Reservations are advised for prime times, since the combination of an open kitchen and New American fare draws steady interest.

Customer Review Summary

Diners consistently single out the braised short rib with risotto as the standout, describing it as melting in the mouth and impeccably crafted. The crème brûlée draws repeated praise as the best in the city, with its texture and smooth flavors earning whole-table agreement. The crab cake starter, noted for having no fillers and all crab, and the apple pie also come up frequently as highlights. The lamb, hanger steak, and sea bass special earn positive mentions for being cooked perfectly and tender. Service draws praise for being attentive and friendly, with one server repeatedly singled out for managing many tables without writing anything down and getting every detail right. Several diners appreciate the BYOB policy with a low corkage fee, though a few note the restaurant's own wine list is pricey. A couple of reviewers mention smaller portions relative to price, and one notes a smoky smell near the kitchen entrance while another flags the valet as a drawback.

My husband and I stopped by a bit last minute to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary. The heirloom tomato and burrata salad was delicious and fresh! My husband got the hanger steak and I got the braised short rib with risotto. All of the food was good and service was great, but not sure I would give it 5 stars vs other local spots with amazing food. Price vs quality seemed reasonably fair but the portions were smaller. If we visit again, will definitely bring our own wine because the corkage fee is only $10! Would recommend still though.

An absolutely delightful dining experience. Tucked next door to Bludorn, this BYOB restaurant was truly amazing. …

Visited Lucio’s for the first time. The BYOB is a major plus only for $10 cork fee. They do have their own wine selection (pricey). The food was great. I would not say the food was amazing but it was great. Presentation of the plates is good, but nothing I would describe as amazing or spectacular. The food is a bit overprices in my opinion. You are looking at an average $45-55 an entree, with some in the $60+. Service was top notch, very attentive staff. The ambience of the restaurant is ok, I think the tables were a bit simple and not elegant IMO. There are 2 seating areas, we sat by the entrance in from of the kitchen. At first I thought how cool but I must admit that there was quite a bit of “smoke” in terms of what was being cooked such as fish etc that you could easily smell from the table and I particularly did not like that. I would definitely come back.

I agree with other reviews - everything was great here (to my surprise - not many people know about this place). It not really fine dining, but definitely upscale. Duck breast was perfectly cooked - which is very rare for duck in western restaurants. Salmon was tender and not dry at all. Also the hangar steak was tasty. Minus points for Valet… Can’t stand this valet trent lately in Houston. Like people can’t park their own car anymore

Lucio's far exceeded my expectations. The ambiance is modern and romantic in an intimate space. The walls are covered with sensual artwork from the owner's wife. The food was outstanding across the board. The beef carpaccio was slightly salty but was still very flavorful. The spinach dip, served with crisp fried chips, was a comforting starter. The sea bass special with risotto and crab meat was delicious. The duck breast was tender, and the sea scallops with risotto were simply amazing. For dessert, we ordered the vanilla bean creme brûlée, brownie with raspberry sorbet, and apple pie à la mode, The whole table agreed that the creme brûlée was the best. The other desserts were good as well but didn't top the creme brûlée. What truly made this a great experience was the service. Irina was remarkable and wears many hats - owner, artist, hostess and server. Despite being the only server in the restaurant, she managed many tables effortlessly. She was attentive, personable, and incredibly friendly, making us feel well cared for throughout the night. Her memory is impressive - she didn't write anything down yet got every detail perfect. There is valet and street parking available. Would highly recommend this restaurant, and I will definitely be back.
