About The Three Tuns
The Three Tuns is an old pub between the river and the city centre on Coppergate, set in a part of York that draws both locals and passing trade. The kitchen keeps things simple, serving burgers alongside the usual pub offer, and the team works on a walk-in basis, with no reservations taken. Live music acts play on Saturday nights, bringing the room to life at the end of the week. Dogs are welcome inside, so the pub draws a regular crowd of walkers and city visitors heading out together. The building itself carries the look of a long-running local, with low ceilings and worn-in corners that come from years of use rather than design.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers describe a beautiful, old, cosy and friendly pub with lovely staff, and one praises an excellent live act on a Saturday night. Food draws complaints: one found the burger had little flavour, and another called the fish and chips small, thin and dry with chips that weren't cooked. One family reports being refused entry with their child in the late afternoon.

“Beautiful old pub between the river and city centre. So cosy and friendly - a real treat to visit.”

“We went in at 1.30pm and were welcomed before taking our son (aged 5, super well behaved) to Jorvik. We tried to call back in after but were told we couldn't bring children in at 4.30pm - yes, 4.30pm - because it was "too busy". Other guests were shocked. We had a table and no one was standing, it was in fact busier and rowdier at 1.30pm. Really poor, anti-family in peak daytime hours, won't be back.”

“18 pound for the worst fish and chips I’ve had in England . Small thin dry and chips weren’t cooked”

“Excellent live act on Saturday Night can't review food as I didn't eat”

“This pub is very lovely and old, and the service was pleasant. Their sign outside says their burgers are really good. Based on this, I had a burger; even with cheese, bacon, mayonnaise and added salt and pepper, I found it to have little flavour. For the price, I was heartily disappointed.”
