Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often circle back to the curries, and the split is stark: several praise dishes like the vegetarian kofta curry with dumplings and a Rogan Josh recommended by staff as full of flavour and nicely spiced, while an equal number describe chicken biryani and chicken tikka masala arriving as watery, oily, and "watered down." Complaints about takeaway portions recur too, with more than one diner reporting trays only partly filled or nan bread smaller than expected, and one reviewer says a refund and a free meal were offered after a complaint but the replacement order had the same problem. Service draws consistent warmth, with staff and waitstaff repeatedly called attentive and welcoming, though one visit was marred by noise and another by a billing error charging for extra pickle trays. Some describe delivery and dine-in as consistently good across multiple visits, while others, especially recent takeaway customers, say quality has dropped since a change in management.

“The service was excellent, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. Unfortunately, the restaurant was very noisy on the evening we attended, which made it difficult to fully enjoy the dining experience. My son really enjoyed the food, and the presentation was good. However, as someone familiar with Indian cuisine, I didn't find the dishes particularly authentic in terms of flavour. The portions were also quite small for the price charged.”

“Wish I'd read reviews on here before ordering. Watery and oily curries with a few tiny chunks of meat floating in them, watery daal which no-one wanted to eat. …”

“Absolutely outstanding service by our waitress Ella. She was super attentive. Very personable and excellent at making us feel very welcome. We will return because Ella made us feel so looked after. Thank you for a great evening.”

“10/10 - My new favourite Indian. We’ve now dined in, had takeaway and ordered delivery, and every single time it’s been spot on. The food is consistently tasty, full of flavour and there’s such a great variety on the menu. The team are genuinely lovely too, which just makes the whole experience even better. So glad we’ve found this place!”

“AVOID. I used to eat at soul curry regularly. It was great but seems its under new management and it was the worst curry I have probably eaten. Firstly the takeaway tray was about 1/3rd full! I complained had to go back to get another one, they said it wouldnt happen again openednit up and would you believe it. Again 1/3rd full. Shocking and tasted absolute pants. Actually the worst curry I have probably ever had. Will not be returning again. Can someone open a good curry house in yarm pleaaaaaase or bring back the old owners.”
