Customer Review Summary

Views over the surrounding fields and hills are what reviewers raise most, and they call them stunning, with indoor and outdoor seating and a farm shop next door. The full English breakfast, including a veggie version and served all day, is the food praised most, with the huge cheese scones and the cake close behind. Ham, egg and chips splits opinion. One diner found the ham delicious, another got a single small, thin slice, and a third called the chips standard frozen catering ones. Others report bacon that was still bright pink with soft fat, smoothies that weren't fresh, and lunch that was just average. Tables fill quickly, and one reviewer found the room quite noisy. One regular found a staff member dismissive when asking about drinks with no queue, though most describe the staff as friendly. One cyclist praised the coffee stop, where a water bottle was refilled.

“Sadly a poor experience from a tall dark haired man on the staff. Quite rude whilst I was enquiring about drinks with no one else queuing, and before the lunch rush! Very demeaning and off hand. Being a regular it was very disappointing. The rest of the staff were pleasant. The meal was also disappointing. I ordered ham egg and chips, and this time had one small to medium sized thin slice of ham. Not great for the price and not the usual standard.”

“Had a lovely breakfast here today. It was really busy but we didn't wait long for the food. The cake was fab as well. It was quite noisy bit still enjoyable.”
  • Darren Naish
“We had an OK lunch, our friends' food was more eye catching but it was tasty enough, we had ham, egg & chips, the chips were the standard frozen catering variety, nothing special, the ham was delicious and eggs were eggs. The service was good, friendly and welcoming”

“A lovely cafe; great local food, stunning views, great parking and an excellent short stroll down to Tortworth, church and oldest tree in Britain! I especially enjoyed the walk around the graveyard down the hill - stunning wild flowers contrasted beautifully against ancient gravestones. I strongly recommend this cafe and Tortworth.”

“This restaurant is located at a quiet hilltop with breathtaking panoramic views. Free parking. You can watch animals freely across the open fields — a truly relaxing and scenic spot. We came for breakfast thinking it would be quiet, but the place was fully booked! Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. Every dish is made fresh to order with quality ingredients, the staff are warm and friendly, prices are reasonable. Right next door is a fantastic little shop selling fresh meats and dry goods — definitely worth a visit!”
