  “It looked nice, but the management was terrible. I went as a guest to a birthday party where the place was chosen because of their 2-for-1 pizza deal. I wasn't aware of the promotion when buying a pizza, and the server never mentioned it (not her fault, we all forget). What was surprising was seeing the manager refuse to give us the second pizza since it hadn't been ordered originally. He only apologized for the situation but said it was impossible due to a system issue (those of us who have worked in these kinds of places know that's a lie). The guy just saw an opportunity to take advantage of other people's ignorance; I hope his "savings" were worth it.”

  “I took my mum and dad down, along with my wife and our Guide Dog puppy for lunch. I asked for a quieter table for medical reasons, and the lovely lady behind the bar made sure we got what we had asked for when we booked online. She looked after us perfectly, and I am just sorry I never asked her name. The chef asked if the food was ok too, which was a nice touch. Service was quick and pleasant, and we were not at all rushed, or left waiting. The food was rated excellent by all involved, and I think it was very good value for money. If you're visiting as a less able person, there is car parking very close to the side double doors, and there are no obstacles to entry. Other customers were using rollators, and one brave gentleman came in on his electric mobility scooter. There's plenty of room so you're not doing an obstacle course to get to a table.”

  “The “Monkey” is our go to place and we are always met with friendliness, great service and good humour. The whole team here are in sync with the customer experience and always aim to please. Food is great pub grub and there is an expansive range of drinks. If dining or wanting to attend any of the customer activities, suggest reserving a table, which again, is not a bother. Leigh and all the team are first class ……. give it a go !! 😉”

  “Previously a local, since moved now but still somewhere I frequent when in the area. The happy hour prices 5-8pm on certain days and a great selection of pints. I always check if Adam is working the kitchen I order fish, as far as franchise pub grub goes the fish is fantastic here (always worth asking staff what to recommend if you’re not fussy). All staff are friendly I’ve never personally ever had a negative experience. Minor gripe (which pretty much all pubs) is that I would love it if they had a selection of sweet treats such as chocolate pouches as sometimes I fancy something sweet after kitchen has closed but only crisps or scratchings, but I’ve been told no cos I’ll eat them all and leave nowt for anyone else! If you go, enjoy x.”

  “I have visited Monkseaton Arms on numerous occasions, and each time I have been consistently impressed. Leanne, in particular, stands out for her professionalism and genuinely warm, friendly hospitality. She always makes us feel welcome and valued, which adds so much to the overall experience. The food is always beautifully presented, with generous portions that never disappoint. It’s clear that care and attention go into every meal. One of the things I appreciate most is how truly accessible Monkseaton Arms is. On my most recent visit, I was accompanied by two people using wheelchairs, and the environment was accommodating, comfortable, and inclusive throughout. I always enjoy my time at Monkseaton Arms and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a welcoming, disability-friendly atmosphere.”

  “As someone who suffers with Crohn's disease and has dietary requirements I can say that this place has catered to my needs brilliantly. The staff were insightful and asked the chef about certain ingredients etc. One staff member in particular was great, Chloe behind the bar. Good laugh and even let us try a few different beers to help us decide. Overall would recommend.”

  “Lovely place, we were in the other day and had a few of the small plates to share which were great! Excellent service from a lovely girl called Lyla who made us feel very welcome and answered all our questions about the food! Would highly recommend.”

  “Lunchtime and it's very busy here also live entertainment to enjoy. Excellent bacon Cheeseburger and fries with an awesome pint. Cannot fault the speed of service and the atmosphere”
