About Parkside Cafe
Afternoon tea is the speciality at Parkside Cafe, a cafe on Grenville Ave in Weston Super Mare that sits opposite a park. The tea arrives on china with sandwiches, scones and a choice of freshly baked cakes, and a Christmas cream tea can be booked in advance. Cooked breakfasts run alongside, including a Large Breakfast of sausages, bacon and poached egg, with coleslaw and cakes made in house and portions generous enough that leftovers go home in a doggy bag. Inside there is a limited number of tables, so booking ahead is recommended, while seating outside gives the option of eating in the open air. High chairs are on hand for families with young children. The cafe is family run, with the team covering both the kitchen and front of house, and coffee can be taken away for those not stopping. It opens Tuesday to Saturday during the day, closed Mondays and Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Afternoon tea is what draws reviewers back, several of them repeatedly, with one group describing a Christmas cream tea booked four years running and an hour's drive each way to reach it. They single out the freshly baked scones and cakes, the sandwiches, the homemade coleslaw and the pretty china it all arrives on, and portions so generous that taking leftovers home in doggy bags comes up again and again, alongside hot drinks topped up throughout the visit. Breakfast draws close behind, with one detailed account praising the quality sausages, bacon, fresh bread and a properly cooked poached egg on the large breakfast. Several describe the small, family run room as homely, like eating at a friend's house, and a few note that with so few tables it would be easy to arrive and find none free, which is why more than one suggests booking. The dissenting note comes from a single reviewer who waited for a regular breakfast, found the coffee stone cold by the time it arrived and the sausages half cooked.

“We had an amazing afternoon tea. There was so much food we had to take doggy bags home! Great food, friendly staff and good service.”

“As always, an amazing Christmas cream tea. 3 adults and 2 infants under 3 months. We felt at home and were given a table which allowed the babies to breast feed and Mum's to eat comfortably. The staff were amazing- friendly, funny and helpful. The food was delicious! A great choice including sandwiches, cakes (lots of choice on flavour), crisps, coleslaw, scones and salad. There was also an endless supply of hot drinks (teas and lattes), which were topped up constantly throughout our stay. Any food we didn't eat we took home. We also had christmas crackers and chocolates dotted on the table. I really couldn't recommend Parkside Cafe enough! Go to Parkside cafe if you're looking for a fun experience, delicious food and great service.”

“We live an hour away from Parkside Cafe & we book the Christmas Afternoon Tea every year as our “little treat” before Christmas. This is our 4th year of doing this & Dan & his little team have never disappointed us. Everything is freshly home made (including the coleslaw which is soooo good!), absolutely delicious & there’s so much variety cake wise to choose from. You won’t leave here hungry!! We honestly can not recommend The Parkside Cafe enough which is why we make that 2 hour round trip year after year. Thank you so much for your hospitality & absolutely fantastic food. See you next year!”

“Lovely, great value, local café with delicious food and run by friendly, helpful staff. It kind of feels like having lunch at a friend's house. The portions are very generous. It's very small, so although we were lucky and got a table immediately, I can imagine it would be easy to go and find no tables free.”
