About Central Perks Cafe Bar

Portuguese cooking sits alongside the café breakfast at Central Perks Cafe Bar, a cafe and breakfast restaurant in Weston Super Mare, close to the seafront and within reach of the train station. The kitchen barbecues a half chicken with spices and sends it out with rice and sauce, and bitoque steak sits on the same menu, with mains arriving with chips and salad and a homemade spicy mayo. Mornings run to the standard fry-up with bacon and sausage, with a slimming breakfast as the lighter option, and tea comes in a pot with the milk on the side. Tables are taken on a walk-in basis rather than by reservation. A step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance opens the room to visitors with mobility needs, high chairs make it workable for families with young children, and seating outside gives the choice of eating in the open air. The kitchen runs Monday to Saturday and closes on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the Portuguese cooking, led by the grilled chicken: one describes a half chicken cooked on a bbq with spices, served with fries and a homemade spicy mayo, and another praises moist chicken with flavoursome rice. Close behind are the bitoque, with tender, juicy steak and plentiful sides, and the cod, called perfectly cooked. Breakfast also draws repeat mentions, including a standard breakfast with nice bacon and sausage and tea served in a pot with milk on the side, and a slimming breakfast one diner found fab while following a diet plan. Portions are described as huge and generous, and prices as decent. Staff and the owner come up as friendly and polite, and several reviewers call the café clean and tidy. No recurring complaints appear, though one visitor notes the grill was fired up specially for a lunch order at breakfast time, which took a little while. That same reviewer finished by saying the chef offered more chips because he did not think the plate was big enough.

“Popped in for quick breakfast here in August while waiting for a train. When I learnt it was Portuguese, they let me try the lunch menu. It took a little while as the chef fired up the grill especially for me, and the wait was well worth it. The portion was huge and the food was the delicious, and the chef even asked me if I wanted more chips as he didn't think he'd given me enough!”
