About Oriental Kitchen
Oriental Kitchen is a Chinese takeaway at 157 Heath Ln in West Bromwich, in business since 2010. It works as a takeaway only, so food is taken away rather than eaten on site. The menu runs from Singapore chow mein to chicken balls, with duck and cashew nuts as one of the dishes. Chicken, beef and duck all appear across the menu, alongside noodle and rice dishes. Orders are placed by going in, because the phone is often not answered.

Customer Review Summary
Chow mein draws the most praise, with one reviewer recommending the Singapore chow mein and chicken chow mein alongside chicken balls, chicken fried rice and Singapore fried rice. Others mention a curry, and a duck and cashew nut dish with reasonable quantities of both and beansprouts that were cooked but crunchy. Reviewers describe the food as freshly cooked, quick, flavoursome and good value, and one who found it not to their taste years ago returned and loved the portion and flavour. The caveats are real. Two reviewers were let down by the food itself: gristly crispy shredded beef, chewy salt and pepper chilli chicken, cold rice and noodles, and a beef and mushroom dish whose sauce one called not authentic. One also notes the phone goes unanswered, so orders mean going in. Delivery is the other recurring complaint. Two reviewers say they were refused for being over a 3 mile limit despite measuring about 1.6 to 1.8 miles away, and one had the order accepted before the restaurant phoned back to cancel.

“Lady was very friendly. Food was piping hot. We ordered crispy shredded beef and salt and pepper chilli chicken. We didn't eat much of it as it really was not nice. The beef was gristly and the chicken chewy. Egg fried rice was OK but not very tasty. Honestly really dissapointed with our food and feel like we have wasted our money. Won't visit again.Lesson learnt.”

“A takeaway only. Food is freshly cooked and quickly. The duck and cashew nuts had reasonable quantities of both. The duck was clearly duck. Beansprouts were cooked but crunchy. Not haute cuisine, but pretty good.”
