Quick info
About Geek Retreat Warrington
Geek Retreat Warrington is a cafe in Warrington, on Crown Parade, where tabletop and video games are part of the visit. Shelves of board games are free to play, with comics and manga to read, and a pool table and a few consoles with games sit alongside. Warhammer players use the tables toward the rear. Weekly tournaments can fill the space, and different events run on different days. Kids can join a Pokemon learning session, and Pokemon card packs are on hand. The kitchen serves a food and drinks menu that includes milkshakes. Visitors who stay longer are asked to buy a drink or food roughly every hour, rather than paying by the hour. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often describe a relaxed place to hang out with games, and board games off the shelf are the main draw, free to play alongside comics, manga, a pool table and consoles. Close behind is the welcome for families and newcomers. Parents mention a toy box for a young child and a staff member who patiently helped a son start collecting Pokemon cards, and one praises a Sunday Pokemon session for kids. Warhammer players say the staff helped them find space for their game, and one notes the rear tables lean toward wargamers and Saturday tournaments can fill the room. Milkshakes and drinks get praise too. Reviewers explain the fair use policy: buying a drink or food roughly every hour instead of paying by the hour. The two lowest reviews both describe the man behind the counter as rude. One says nobody said hello and was told to buy something or leave after a quick look around, and the other felt told what to do every few minutes like a school child. Smaller complaints are no working hand dryer or paper towels and pricey, scattered parking nearby. Several reviewers say they will return.

“Found this place randomly one night and went in with my boy, was welcomed with a very friendly environment from both staff and people there. Currently here again for the Sunday Pokemon learning for kids and same atmosphere. Great place to be and staff are brilliant with the kids.”

“I'd seen various ads and videos about this place so thought I'd pop in with my two younger children (8 and 3) while my eldest was shopping in town with friends. Lovely, welcoming staff member showed us where everything was. There were free board games to play, comics and manga to read and a big toy box for my youngest to rummage through. A fab place to spend a few hours with the kids whilst out and about in Warrington! A real hidden gem 💎”

“First visit today, Doug had loads of patience with my son who was desperate to start collecting pokemon cards. Bought some new packs and had a rummage through the 10p pile. Entertained him for ages and now he’s home and looking through his massive new collection of cards and made up. Will go back for sure. Such a nice space.”

“Wish i could give less then 1 star. First time visiting, basically got treated like school children being told what to do every 5 mins by the guy on the counter. Very rude and poor service would not recommend and will never go back”
