About The Grill on the Square
The Grill on the Square is a bar and grill on Palmyra Square N in Warrington. Its meat hanging kebab comes with garlic oil to pour over, and it sits on the menu beside the steaks, including ribeye and rump served with peppercorn sauce. Starters run from steak tartare and tempura prawns to salt and pepper squid, pâté, and tomato soup with a cheese toastie. Sticky toffee pudding is one of several desserts. The bar mixes cocktails and keeps a wine selection to go with the food. A lunchtime menu offers lighter plates such as haddock with chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. The restaurant stands close to Parr Hall.

Customer Review Summary
Steak anchors the praise, from a ribeye with truffle chips cooked medium-well to rump steak with peppercorn sauce. Close behind is the meat hanging kebab with garlic oil to pour over, mentioned by two parties alongside half a lobster. Starters also get named: steak tartare called gorgeous, and tempura prawns and salt and pepper squid in light batter. One lunch diner praises haddock with mushy peas and a tartare sauce they say should be bottled, and another shared a sticky toffee pudding. The one reservation is a beef bourguignon with excellent flavour that was not quite as tender as the reviewer prefers. Service is raised repeatedly, with diners describing attentive staff and a server who brought apple juice for a very spicy dish. Several mention returning many times. One family had sparklers put in a birthday cake they brought in, and staff sang happy birthday.

“We were attending an event at Parr Hall and decided to have dinner at the Grill on the Square beforehand. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious - I had the tomato soup and cheese toastie for the starter, my husband had the pate, both really tasty. I had the steak for my main, and hubby had the kebab, and we were very impressed. Lovely atmosphere to the place too. Highly recommend”

“The restaurant was first class and the food sublime. We really enjoyed our impromptu visit thoroughly. The restaurant was really good offering sound advice on flavoursome dishes and the price was very reasonable. Overall another hidden gem. We will definitely be back!”

“We called on Tuesday, it was our 25th wedding Anniversary. We had the lunch time menu of Haddock, chips , mushy peas , lemon and Tartare sauce ( if the chef makes that it should be bottled and sold ) , it was delicious. My husband had rump steak, chips and pepper corn sauce , it was all perfectly delicious. Tomasz is so attentive, kind and really efficient, so lovely, we will definitely be back again 🙂. Ps . No one knew it was our silver wedding anniversary at all , so thank you so much x”
