Quick info
About Wyrley Park Fish Bar
Fish in batter and chips, ordered battered or plain, anchor the counter at Wyrley Park Fish Bar, a fish and chips takeaway in Walsall at 391 Walsall Rd. Alongside the fryer, doner kebab meat turns on the spit and is carved once the order goes in, served with naan or pitta bread, and chicken tikka sits on the same menu. Onion rings in batter fill out the sides. There is no booking, so orders are placed in person at the counter, and a wait can build when the shop is busy. Everything is packed for eating off site, whether collected or sent out for delivery. High chairs are kept on hand for families with young children waiting on an order.

Customer Review Summary
The batter on the fish draws the most comment, and reviewers split sharply over it. Regulars of several years describe a decline, with one likening the coating to chewing an oil filled sponge and another finding it wet, soggy and tasteless, while a fish and chips order left one reviewer smelling old oil. Close behind, the bread served with kebabs recurs as a complaint, with a naan and a pitta both described as rock hard and, in one case, inedible, alongside doner meat called extremely dry and chicken tikka said to have no taste. Service draws mixed accounts, praised as friendly with good banter by returning weekly customers but faulted by one diner whose order was forgotten until reminded, and others mention an occasional wait. One reviewer questions the hygiene rating and reports doner meat barely heated before slicing. The warmest reviews single out the chips, called top notch battered or plain, and onion rings described as massive.

“How this place got a 5 hygiene rating is beyond me, chips looked like they'd been cooked 2 hours before, the donor meat was only heated whilst he was cutting is (20 secs max). A one off visit, at least it only cost me £6 to learn the lesson of never going again”

“I've been using here for years ,went in tonight and I got given a naan bread for my kebab that had sat on the side for god knows how long . It was there when I ordered my food ,not happy ,is it real worth loosing a custom and a bad review,to use up a very minimal costing item It was so hard it was not edable ......”

How this listing is sourced
- Where the data comes from
- Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
- How it stays current
- Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
- How it is ranked
- Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
