About Aldridge Chippy
Aldridge Chippy is a fish and chips takeaway on Anchor Rd in Walsall, run by the same family since late 1999. Service stays face to face, so every order is handled in person by the team behind the counter. The menu covers haddock and chips, and the mini fish special pairs a mini fish with a battered sausage and a pot of peas, gravy or curry sauce. Cod roe is also on the menu for those who want something beyond the usual order. The shop is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
The mini fish special is what most reviewers come back to, described as yummy, delicious and great value, with a sausage and a pot of peas, gravy or curry sauce included. Friendly service is praised repeatedly, and one reviewer notes how the staff chat warmly with regulars. A group order served piping hot with loads of peas and curry sauce and large portions also drew thanks. Quality is where opinions split. Several describe soggy batter, and others report dry fish and greasy chips. One reviewer found a large haddock came out medium sized in thin, fat-laden batter, and another said the large fish was thinner than on earlier visits. That reviewer also called the mushy peas foul with a bleach-like taste, while a different one said the cod roe was very thin and loaded in spongy batter. One returning customer who once found the battered sausage and fish special inedible went back after speaking with the manager and found it delicious again.

“I wrote a bad review a few months ago after using this chip shop for years, the special I had the fish and battered sausage was terrible, we couldn’t eat it. I said I would never return, but my wife convinced me to return after talking to the manager one lunchtime. Tonight myself and my son returned to have our usual the battered sausage/mini fish special and we both really enjoyed it, fish and sausage was delicious, back to the standard we used to love.👍”

“Had a Mini Fish and Chips. The fish was quite dry, and the chips were really greasy—nothing special to rave on about, to be honest. Customer service was good.”
