Quick info
About The Ship Inn
The Ship Inn is a multi-level pub on Gonvena Hill in Wadebridge, with a pub area, a separate restaurant area and a bar. Splitting the building this way gives drinkers and diners their own spaces under one roof. The kitchen serves burgers on a flat slate and giant pies, and starts the meal with Uglow Farm belly pork bites. Cask ales on the bar are locally brewed. Dogs are welcome, so walkers can bring their pets along.

Customer Review Summary
Belly pork is the dish diners return to most, whether as the Uglow Farm belly pork bites or a starter one reviewer calls incredible. Close behind are the duck starter, sausage and mash with gravy, chicken burgers and pies described as giants. Mac and cheese croquettes, Cornish brown crab linguine and maple pecan pie also get named. Families mention pizzas and chips in portions two children struggled to finish, and several praise food that arrived hot and filling. Reviewers describe the atmosphere as cosy and traditional, with locally brewed cask ales, friendly staff, a bar full of locals and sea shanties sung on an upper level. The complaints are small. One reviewer found the burger on its flat slate a little pricey and wanted salad or coleslaw and more fries, and a Saturday booking meant a short wait to be seated while the team was short staffed. One walk-in group of 11 with a wheelchair user was accommodated, and the kitchen catered well for a nut allergy.

“Lovely English pub, good selection of locally brewed cask ales. Very reasonable prices. Bartender was super friendly and ready to give recommendations. Can't rate food as I didn't eat. Beautiful building with a great atmosphere inside. Cannot recommend enough. Good prices”

“Holidaying in Polzeath, & after a day on the beach, we decided to head in to Wadebridge for dinner. Nearly drove past this pub, very glad we popped in & they had a table available. Lovely chicken burgers & sausage & mash (amazing gravy!) I had the most delicious maple pecan pie for dessert, absolutely delicious. Friendly staff, great atmosphere & very nice food. Would highly recommend a visit to this pub.”

“Last minute meal last week on a weekday evening and was so worth it. We were stopping at the Premier Inn which is just 10 mins walk up the road and The Ship was recommended to us by friends that live in Wadebridge. The pub area was full but the restaurant area quite, most probably as a week night. My husband had a starter and a main meal, I had a children's meal as I don't have a big appetite, the food was hot which is always good and filling, so no room for a dessert. Very friendly staff and we will definitely be back at the end of the year when we are in Wadebridge again.”

“As a walk in group of 11 (one wheelchair user), The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. Food was also excellent and nut allergy well catered for Couldn’t recommend higher”
