About Lanivet Inn
Lanivet Inn is a village pub on Truro Rd in Bodmin, open daily and large enough for sit-down meals as well as local drinking. The kitchen turns out pub staples, with fish and chips and a homemade pie on the menu alongside ribs, and meals are brought to the table by the team. Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips draw the most praise. One reviewer calls them the best they have had in a pub, another singles out the chips as the best they have ever had, and a third says a relative is always pleased with the dish. Close behind are the giant, delicious ribs and a homemade pie that a visiting couple highly recommend. Reviewers describe generous portions, reasonable prices and a friendly local pub that is large enough for meals, and several call the service helpful and friendly. Not every dish lands. One diner found a sea bream special lacking seasoning, mostly potatoes, and soggy at the bottom of its bowl. The sharper complaint is slow service. One table describes plates left uncleared, a dessert order nobody came to take and a meal dragged out by waits. Another says no one came to take their order, though they suspected the staff were new. That couple paid for their drinks and walked to the chippy across the road.

“We booked a table for two after seeing adverts of FB and other places. The pub is OK but the service is sooo slow! We were seated and given menus but after 35 minutes, there was no sign of anyone coming to take our order. We gave up, paid for the drinks and went to the superb Chippy across the road. In mitigation, I very much got the impression that most of the staff were new. Perhaps it will improve as they become more experienced.”

“A proper local. But large enough for meals too. Also: hands down thr best fish and chips I've ever had in a pub! And I'm 51.”

“Food is hit and miss Ribs were giant and delicious and my Nan is always pleased with the fish and chips But Saturday I had the Sea bream special which was disappointing. It lacked seasoning and chard, was mostly potatoes and was served in a bowl so everything turned to soggy mush at the bottom If it wasn't for the locals discount voucher, I probably wouldn't come here again Sorry”

“We found this little Pub after visiting the NT Lanhydrock Castle and Gardens. It's only a 10 min. drive. The food was very good, and we highly recommend trying out the homemade pie. We will definitely come visit again.”

“Visited this evening with friends. All our meals were very generous and tasty. The chips here are really lovely, the best we've ever had. Special mention to Ell and Ruby who were very helpful and friendly. We can definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal with excellent service.”
