About The Marrowbone & Cleaver
The Marrowbone & Cleaver is a pub in Ulceby at 3 High St, where the decor tells the story of the local area. Tributes to the Lancaster bomber and the RAF base history sit alongside old pictures, RAF memorabilia and nods to the village's past, so the room doubles as a small record of local history. A mural of Lincolnshire landmarks adds to the walls, and bike pictures around the dining area nod to a motorcycle theme. The menu includes fish dishes, among them fishcakes with salmon, as well as a gluten free burger. Puddings include treacle sponge and pear crumble. A beer and wine selection runs alongside the food. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often point to the portion sizes, with the fish platter, the fish batter and a gluten free burger named among the plates that left people stuffed, and several say they had no room for pudding. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly and very helpful, along with a welcome that reviewers call warm. The decor draws comment too, with tributes to the Lancaster bomber, RAF memorabilia and pictures of Lincolnshire landmarks. Others mention korma, chicken goujons, onion rings, treacle sponge and pear crumble, and describe the food as freshly cooked and tasty. One reviewer found the fishcakes contained salmon and had expected more traditional Grimsby style ones, though still thought them quite good. Reviewers also mention a good choice of beer and wines and two outdoor garden areas with hanging baskets. Several travelled a long way after hearing about the place, and one family said they paid less for four people than they had previously paid for two elsewhere. A recurring closing note is wishing they had saved space to try the puddings.

“Came here from afar because of the reviews. Was not disappointed. Just too much food on the plate, and that is not a criticism! Staff ultra friendly, lovely ambience. We all left very happy. Wish we could have tried the puddings. Food beautifully freshly cooked and presented, fish batter a dream.”

“We stopped on our way back from the airport. We didnt have a reservation but was able to get seated. The service was fast, the food came out quickly and the portions were large. I ordered fishcakes and was surprised to find salmon in them. Although quite good, I was expecting more traditional Grimsby style fishcakes. My friend loved her meal. The decor is interesting, was very bright and light in the dining area and it was very clean.”

“An absolutely amazing gem nestled in a beautiful English village steeped with history. The marrowbone and clever is very clean with the tastiest food I’ve had in a long while. The staff were amazing and couldn’t have made us feel more comfortable. The decor of the inside of the building was fantastic with a nod to the village history. We will definitely visiting again soon”
