Customer Review Summary
Takeaway is the most common thread, and reviewers split on it. Several praise a chicken tikka bhuna that arrived boiling hot and early, a large family order handled well, and a takeaway they say matches the quality of the dine-in food. Others single out a chicken naga with big pieces of chicken, generous portions, and a set meal for four that fed six. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and polite, and one family says the restaurant was great with their two year old. The complaints are serious and cluster around cooked-food quality. One reviewer says a delivered takeaway arrived cold after more than an hour and met attitude on the phone, and says they binned it over worries it was undercooked. Another reports meat that tasted off and a Madras sauce unlike a Madras, followed by illness after that meal and a poor sauce on a second try. A New Year's Eve diner found the food not piping hot during a very busy service, though still tasty. One reviewer found the entrance not very inviting, and a promised twenty minute takeaway was ready on arrival.

“Ordered a takeaway online, arrived before it was supposed to, boiling hot and hands down, the nicest curry we have had in a long long time! Chicken tikka bhuna was full of flavour and chicken was beautifully tender. Highly recommend and WILL be returning! Thank you”

“Takeaway from here was phenomenal. We had quite a large order for the whole family, and tale of spice did a phenomenal job. Great selection of food and drink to mix and match. Portion sizes are decent and priced reasonably.”

“We went to this restaurant for the first time last night and had a fabulous meal, all three of us. The waiters were all really friendly, polite and attentive. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and looked really inviting. We had popadoms a couple of starters and 3 mains, rice a nan. My chicken naga was excellent with loads of big pieces of chicken and my friends all looked to be the same, all really tasty and big portions. We will definitely go back and would highly recommended.”

“That's two bad meals on the trot. I have used A Tale of Spice a lot over the years and regularly. But the last two meals have been terrible, a Tuesday night a couple of weeks ago the meat was off and the Madras sauce was nothing like Madras and then thought I would try them once more, meat was not off but the sauce yuk. I don't know if they have a new Chef but it is poor won't be using them again made me ill on the Tuesday meal and this one is just poor but hopefully won't be I'll 🤞”

“This is the only Indian in Trowbridge worth talking about. Food is incredible, staff are friendly and polite and the Atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The take away food is exactly the same quality as what you get in the restraunt. 5 stars all over.”
