About Rumour Kitchen & Bar
Rumour Kitchen & Bar is an eclectic restaurant at 30 High St in Totnes, set in a 14th Century building that was once a toffee factory and a jazz bar. The menu mixes pizzas with small plates. The Mediterranean pizza comes with Provençale sauce, mozzarella, halloumi, rocket, pomegranate molasses and hazelnut dukkah, and the fish cakes arrive with a side salad. A vegan pizza with aubergine and pesto is also on the list. The bar makes cocktails, including an amaretto sour. The restaurant sits near the top of the hill, opposite the cinema.

Customer Review Summary
Pizzas come up most, from a Mediterranean with halloumi and pomegranate molasses and a pepperoni to a vegan one with aubergine and pesto. Close behind are the crispy fried duck leg with bao buns and pancake, cauliflower tacos with slaw and lime, spicy chicken wings, a steak with peppercorn sauce, and small plate fish cakes that one reviewer found plenty for lunch. One visitor came only for drinks and praised an amaretto sour. Servers are described as friendly, smiley, helpful and kind, and several suggest booking in advance, especially at weekends and on market days. Complaints are few. One diner wished for more vegan options, and one noted that noise levels were high at times, though it did not put them off. Another found the manageress a little offhand: when asked to box a dish, she simply handed over an empty box, and a young waiter took the dish to the kitchen and boxed it himself.

“Very busy restaurant in the centre of Totnes near the top of the hill. Situated opposite the cinema there. The steak with peppercorn sauce was exceptional. Definitely need to book if planning to go at the weekend”

“Fabulous food and service. We were pleased to get one of the last tables early on a Friday evening. They are dog friendly. The cauliflower tacos with a blend of slaw, sweetcorn, coriander and lime flavours were amazing. We also enjoyed spicy chicken wings and a pizza. Look forward to returning.”

“We've visited twice whilst on holiday. For a lunch and an evening meal. Both times staff were excellent and food was delicious. Noise levels were high at times but it didn't put us off.”

“Scored for the drinks rather than the food, as we didn't have anything to eat here. What a lovely place manned at the time of our visit by a very pleasant and amicable member of staff who made one of the best amaretto sour's I've had the pleasure to taste. 10/10 sir!”

“Best place to eat out in Totnes, I'm a regular and I've never had a bad experience at Rumour before. The food is amazing, the service high quality and their staff is super helpful and friendly. Peppa and Gracie always makes sure both the regulars and the walk-ins are all welcome and well taken care of. Worth booking in advance as it is a popular place, for a good reason😊😉🩷”
