About New Anchor Fish & Chip Shop
In Thornton Cleveleys, New Anchor Fish & Chip Shop is a traditional fish and chips takeaway at 42 Anchorsholme Ln E. The kitchen cooks the fish fresh after ordering and serves fish and chips in a tray, with pickled egg and mushy peas offered alongside. For something bigger, the 1-foot sausage comes on its own or as a giant hot dog. The shop opens evenings only, Monday to Saturday, and closes on Sundays. Payment is cash only, so bring notes or coins. It sits close to a tram stop and a short walk from the sea front.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come back to the fish, cooked fresh after ordering and served hot in a tasty batter, with fish and chips, pickled egg, mushy peas and fish with scallops all named. Close behind is the staff, described repeatedly as friendly and up for banter, with good conversation while waiting. Others point to the good portions, reasonable prices and a clean shop, and one mentions a speciality 1-foot sausage, served alone or as a giant hot dog. One regular says they have visited every weekend for about four years without a bad meal, and a few carry their order to the sea front. A minor note is that the chips included some short and long ends. One reviewer reports that five of six people in their group became ill with stomach ache, and some with vomiting, after eating fish and chips from here, and felt the shop dismissed the concern by insisting its food is fresh. Children were given a bag of sweets to share after their tea.

“We have tried a few fish and chip shops in the area since we moved here. So far this is the best one. Fresh cooked fish in a nice batter, plenty of chips although they were a little bit of short and long 'ends'. But by far the tastiest of the 4 places we have tried. We will return. Good price, parking is outside, friendly staff VERY CLEAN!!”

“Fish and mushy peas in a tray and a fish and scallops in a tray for my other half. Onto the sea front to consume. Yummy.”

“Collected our tea before the annual illuminations run. From the minute we walked we were welcomed and given time to look through the menu. Children were even given a bag of sweets to share after their tea. Food was great the fish batter was so tasty and we all had full bellies. Educated on what a pea bomb is too.... Forget Seniors try here you won't be disappointed. Chorley Massive xxx.”
