Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips served piping hot by friendly counter staff is what the positive reviewers return for, with regulars describing weekly dinners, polite staff who serve with a smile, and a quick turnaround whether eating in or taking away. One diner calls the fish great with crispy batter, and mushy peas and a cheeseburger with a pile of chips also come up, though that reviewer found the chips less impressive and left some uneaten. The negative reviews are substantial and specific. Several say quality has slipped, describing old, tasteless fish, overdone or two-tone chips, stale barm cakes, gravy like water, watered down curry and a lot of grease. Another found the chips not cooked through and an order taken wrongly, and that reviewer reports staff handling raw fish without gloves. Service is split too: one takeaway customer says part of a haddock dropped onto the floor and the counter staff ignored their warning about a slip hazard.

“Used to be lovely food here, what's happened? The fish was old and tasteless, the chips were over done, the barm cakes were stale and the gravy like water. Ill be giving this place a miss for a couple of years.”

“Ordered a haddock for takeaway. Lass at the counter who was serving was absolutely cold and vacant. When i was given the fish in a tray, part of it dropped out onto the floor 😳 I tried to tell the female behind the counter, (as it could be a slip hazard ) and was completely ignored. There was only one other customer in the shop. NEVER again. And the haddock was nowt to write home about either.”

“The chips were not fully cooked all the way through, Blanched potatoes. Incompetent staff failing to take an order correctly and getting it completely wrong. Handling raw fish with thier hands, no gloves. No hairnet This place needs reporting to traiding standards.”
