“Came for a celebration lunch with some friends for their birthdays. Really lovely home cooked, fresh food. Amazing portions, and really brilliant quality. I had the Yorkshire pudding with sausages and mash. The Yorkshire was almost big enough to wear as a hat!! With 3 generous, proper sausages and scrumptious onion gravy. My children went for the light bite options, and these were still very generous, and incredible value for money. I wish we lived closer, as this would definitely become a firm favourite for a traditional pub grub lunch. Would highly recommend a visit.”

“We arrived 20 minutes before the kitchen was closing (5 of us) but the staff here were lovely and welcomed us in and we all left happy and with full bellies! The food was superb, much more than just pub grub, great value and large portions. The special beef short rib lasagne was amazing. Unfortunately we didn't all have room for dessert but my son and husband managed one each and both the crumble with custard, and the chocolate pudding with ice cream went down very well. Would highly recommend going here for good food and friendly staff. Thank you for feeding 5 hungry Glawegians en route to Scarborough!”

“Empty when we arrived. Cold and not particularly inviting but we do like to call into a pub and have a drink.”

“Lovely pub in the middle of a small green. Parking directly outside the pub. Staff are lovely and it's completely dog friendly. Most importantly the food is well priced for the area and very very good. The portions are generous and it's very tasty. Fully recommend.”

“Excellent beers and ales on draft, good food (I really enjoyed the Steak and Guinness Pie), and a pleasant atmosphere. Great pub in a nice North Yorkshire market town!”
