  “A good value carvery that was enjoyed by all that had it. They will be updating their menu shortly to reflect the vegan and vegetarian carvery options that are available, e.g. a moving mountains patty to have with the carvery. If the dishes could be labelled with allergens (e.g. the stuffing, veg) that would be great for customers to eat with greater confidence. Vegetarian gravy also available upon request. Drinks also good value for a country pub. A good range of ciders especially. The waiting staff were also especially helpful and polite, which really added to the visit. They also offer a small menu alongside the carvery for those who would prefer an alternative, e.g. a burger.”

  “Stopped by the Red Lion in Hockwold and had a fantastic meal. The food was excellent across the board. The fish and chips had a light, crispy batter with flaky fish, the burger was juicy and cooked well, and the BBQ ribs were tender, and packed with flavor. The chips were crisp, the sides were fresh, and everything arrived hot. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing, and the pub had a relaxed atmosphere that made it easy to enjoy the meal. If you’re in the area, I’d definitely recommend giving the Red Lion a visit. Great food, generous portions, and excellent service. We’ll definitely be back.”

  “Had a fantastic meal tonight ..new menu launched . Starters, mains and desserts all very well cooked .tasty and looked really apertising 😋🙌🏻👌🏼ate every morsel !! Yummmmmm Chefs are so so good .all staff and atmosphere is great. Best pub and grub for miles 👌🏼 5 stars 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟from us ✨️ can't wait till Sunday for the Carvery .. exceptional value 👏🏻”

  “Stopped here for lunch while on a bike ride. Great decision. Very friendly, fast service, good beer. The mini bar burger was excellent: well-seasoned skin-on fries, they made the effort to grill the brioche bun, burger still slightly pink. Kudos to the chef.”

  “Literally the best restraunt iv been to in my entire time of being overseas! The staff is great food is amazing and it will always have a place in my heart. Mind you the steaks are the best iv ever had in my life.”

  “What a lovely gem! Great customer service we didn’t know the kitchen hrs but they have let us in half hr early and soon the charcoal was ready the waitress took us out order! All our dishes were amazing but the quality of the steak was superb; happy to pay the price.”

  “So glad I decided to take my mum here for lunch. After our amazing steak and chips at their country night, I knew I wanted to go back! Today was no different! Food was outstanding, service was amazing (waitress was very friendly and chatty), pub was clean and well presentable. Honestly can not thank you all enough. Thank you for a fantastic meal 🥰 We will be back!”

  “Came here for a Mother’s Day meal as a party of seven. We had a table booked for 12:30 and was shown in straight away which was great. The waitress explained that if we wanted to pay separately we would need to order our drinks at the bar because they didn’t want to have to split the cheques, and baring in mind there’s seven of us, this wouldn’t be very convenient. After we’d finished our starters, the same waitress then came and told us “Just to let you know you’ve got about 45 mins left on your table before another party comes in.” As you can imagine, considering we hadn’t even had our mains yet and potentially then wanted desserts, we found this quite rude and unprofessional. If there’d been a time limit on the table we should have been told this on arrival, not when there’s less than an hour to go and we haven’t even eaten mains yet. After eating mains and desserts, another waitress came over and said “Yeah when you’re ready we need the table now.” We didn’t even have the bill, and we were well aware that there was someone else waiting, but frankly it wasn’t really our fault, and we couldn’t control the speed of the service. We sat waiting for the bill for ten minutes, before she came over AGAIN and asked how long we’d be! It was at this point that I said “Well if you wanna bring the bill over we might be a bit quicker..?”. She then decided to tell us we had to pay at the bar here, which would have been helpful to know prior to ordering so we could’ve just got up when we were done. An additional point to add is there are NO prices listed anywhere for drinks nor carvery or any of the specials, so it’s a bit of a guessing game as to what you’re going to end up paying. Overall, the food was really lovely, and the pub itself was in a gorgeous quiet village which was a nice change to our busy hometown, however the service lacked professionalism and had we been made aware of the clearly overbooked afternoon service that was running, we’d have made sure we did all we could to ensure we didn’t overrun. Would return, but NOT on a weekend where I’m sure we’d be rushed along again.”
